The Domus DRIVER-12V-SLIM-DIM is a slim linear 12 V DC constant-voltage LED driver with five dimming protocols — 260 × 30 × 18.5 mm, IP20, in 30, 60 and 100 W.
| Protocol | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Triac | A standard mains dimmer on the wall |
| 0–10 V | A separate control pair — commercial standard |
| 1–10 V | The same, with a defined minimum |
| 10 W PWM | Pulse-width control from a controller |
| Potentiometer | A physical knob, set once and left |
| Driver | Size | Efficiency |
|---|---|---|
| This linear one | 260 × 30 × 18.5 mm | ⛔ up to 79% |
| Compact 12 V IP20 | 100 × 36 × 18 mm | ✅ up to 89% |
Slim linear 12 V DC constant-voltage LED driver, 5-in-1 dimmable. IP20. 30 / 60 / 100 W. 260 × 30 × 18.5 mm, 350 g. Dimming: Triac, 0–10 V, 1–10 V, 10 W PWM, potentiometer. Efficiency up to 79%; PF >0.96. Voltage tolerance ±0.5 V, regulation ±0.5%. −40 °C to +60 °C. Secondary-side short circuit, thermal overload, over-temperature and over-voltage protection. 1 m flex and plug. Parallel wiring. ⛔ Its record lists 10W, which is not one of its variants — it appears to be lifted from the "10W PWM" dimming option. ⛔ Efficiency up to 79% against the compact drivers' 89% — give it air. ⛔ 5-year warranty in the datasheet prose and in no field.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
Five different dimming protocols in one driver: Triac (a standard mains dimmer on the wall), 0–10V and 1–10V (a separate control pair, the commercial standard), 10W PWM (pulse-width control from a controller) and potentiometer (a physical knob on the driver). That makes it the most flexible control component in this catalogue, and it is the driver to specify when the control system is not settled yet — one part covers every likely answer rather than committing you to a rewire later.
If you have the choice, 0–10V or the potentiometer. Triac is the one most likely to disappoint: a mains dimmer driving a constant-voltage driver flickers at low levels when the pair are mismatched, and that is the single most common complaint about dimmed LED strip. The potentiometer option is quietly useful for a cove or a display — set a fixed maximum on the driver once and never think about it again, with no dimmer on the wall at all.
It looks lifted from the wrong line of the datasheet — one of the five dimming protocols is "10W PWM", and the record has picked up that figure as the wattage. Ignore it and choose from the dropdown. It is not isolated: of 22 Domus products whose variants are wattages, 18 record only the smallest and two record a figure that is not a variant at all.
Shape, and it is the whole argument. At 30mm wide and 18.5mm deep this lies inside an aluminium profile channel or along a shadow gap where the compact 36mm-wide driver simply will not fit. The cost is efficiency: up to 79% here against the compact driver's 89%. At 100W output that is roughly 127W drawn from the mains against 112W, and the difference becomes heat — so give it air rather than sealing it into a void.
For running cost, barely — the difference at typical domestic loads is small. For heat, yes: ten percentage points at 100W is about 15W of extra warmth inside whatever enclosure the driver sits in. A slim driver sealed into an airless joinery void runs hotter than a compact one at the same load, and heat is what shortens a driver's life. If you can give it ventilation or mount it where air moves, do.
Tight regulation keeps brightness even along a long strip run. This driver holds ±0.5V tolerance and ±0.5% regulation, which is good — loose regulation shows up as visible variation in brightness from one end of a cove to the other, and once it is installed there is nothing to do about it. It is one of the specifications worth caring about on strip lighting and one that rarely gets compared.
Five years, stated in the datasheet prose as a replacement warranty — and it is in no product field. That is the longest term in this Domus catalogue, and on a driver it matters: the driver is usually what fails first in a strip installation and the LEDs outlive it. Ask us to confirm it with your order since it is prose rather than a recorded term.
