The Domus DRIVER-12V-IP20-DIM is an indoor dimmable 12 V DC constant-voltage LED driver — IP20, in 20, 30, 60 and 100 W, 100 × 36 × 18 mm.

⭐ Small enough to hide, which is the point of it
  • 100 × 36 × 18 mm and 69 g at 20 W.
  • ⭐ 18 mm deep is what matters. That fits inside a joinery void, above a pelmet, in a shadow gap or behind a bulkhead — places a chunkier driver cannot go without building a housing for it.
  • ⭐ Which is the usual reason strip lighting looks bad: the driver ends up somewhere visible or inaccessible because nobody allowed for it. Allow for it at design stage, and allow for reaching it again.
  • ⚠ Do not bury it where it cannot be replaced. The driver is the part most likely to fail in a strip installation; the LEDs generally outlive it.

Which wattage do I need?

Add up the load and allow about 20% headroom — a driver run at its rated maximum runs hotter and lasts less time. A worked example: LED strip at 9.6W per metre over 4m is 38.4W, so you want the 60W driver rather than the 30W. Where do I put it?

Somewhere hidden but reachable, and that is a genuine design decision rather than an afterthought. At 100 × 36 × 18mm it fits inside a joinery void, above a pelmet, in a shadow gap or behind a bulkhead — the 18mm depth is what makes that possible. But do not seal it in permanently: the driver is the part most likely to fail in a strip installation and the LEDs generally outlive it, so you will need to reach it again. Strip lighting that looks bad is usually strip lighting where nobody allowed for the driver.

Will it work with my dimmer?

Tell us which one and we will confirm. A constant-voltage driver on a mismatched dimmer flickers at low levels, and a small load makes it worse — so the combination matters more than either component on its own. If you do not actually need dimming, the non-dimmable version of the same driver has fewer things to go wrong.

Can I use it in a bathroom or outdoors?

No. IP20 means no protection against water at all, and only protection against fingers for solids — it is an indoor dry-location component. For a bathroom, a garden or anywhere damp, the IP67 version of the same 12V driver is the right part, and it is rated for temporary immersion so it can go in a garden bed.

How do I wire the strip to it?

In parallel, as with every constant-voltage driver — each section connects across the same 12V output rather than one after another. And a practical point at 12V: volt drop bites early, so over about 5m of strip, feeding from both ends or splitting into two runs usually works better than simply fitting a bigger driver. Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.
