Domus CYCLOPS - 20W+7W LED 4-CCT Switchable Push Dimmable Mother & Child Uplighter Floor Lamp Black

The Domus CYCLOPS is a mother-and-child floor lamp in black: a 20 W uplighter giving up to 1,350 lumens and a 7 W reading light giving up to 336 lumens, both push-dimmable and switchable across four colour temperatures.

The two lights, and what each is for

• ✅ The uplighter output barely changes across the four settings — under 4% — so switching colour does not dim the room. That is unusual and it is a good thing.
• ⚠ The reading light is a different story: it drops from 336 lm at 3000 K to 256 lm at 4000 K, a 24% fall. If you read at the neutral setting you get noticeably less light than at the warm one.
• ✅ Both are push-dimmable, so the room level and the reading level are set separately.

Why an uplighter

• 1,350 lm bounced off a ceiling lights a whole living room softly, with no visible source and no glare — a genuine alternative in a rental or a room with no ceiling point.
• ⚠ It needs a light ceiling. Bounced light is only as good as the surface it bounces off.
• ✅ The reading light is on the same stem, so one piece of furniture covers watching, working and reading.

⚠ Three things this lamp does differently

• Class III — it runs at safety extra-low voltage behind its supply, which is why it can be push-dimmed at the fitting rather than needing a wall dimmer.
• 20,000 hours, well below the 40,000–50,000 most of this catalogue quotes. At four hours a night that is around thirteen years, but it is worth knowing.
• 4.3 kg. ✅ Heavy for a floor lamp, and that is a feature — a tall uplighter with a light base tips over.

Choosing the settings

• 3000 K — evenings, living rooms, and the brightest setting for reading.
• 4000 K — daytime, a study or home office.
• 5000 K — detailed work, craft, drawing.
• 6000 K — the coldest, and unusually the reading light regains its brightness here (332 lm). Inspection work.
