CURVE Surface Mounted Round Diffuser

The Domus CURVE is a surface-mounted aluminium LED profile with a curved opal PMMA diffuser, 19.7 × 19.6 mm in section and 2,500 mm long, in anodised aluminium, black or white.

The curved diffuser is the point of this one

• A curved opal PMMA cover, rather than the flat lens most profiles use.
• ✅ A curve reads as a soft round line of light from any angle, where a flat diffuser reads as a bright band from below and a dark edge from the side.
• ✅ That matters where the profile is seen from more than one direction — suspended over a bench, run along a wall at eye level, or under an open shelf.
• ⚠ A curve also diffuses better at a given depth, so at roughly 19.6 mm high this profile hides an ordinary SMD strip more completely than a flat channel of the same size would. A dotless COB strip is still the cleanest partner.

What the profile does for the strip

• ✅ Heat. Extruded aluminium 6063 is a heatsink. Strip run bare against plasterboard or timber runs hotter, and heat is what shortens its life and shifts its colour.
• ✅ Protection. Domus's own description makes the point that the profile keeps the LEDs free of foreign objects and vapours — which matters more in a kitchen, a workshop or a garage than people expect.
• ✅ It keeps the line straight. Adhesive strip on a bare surface wanders; an extrusion does not.
• ✅ And it makes the installation look built rather than added.

Mounting it — three ways

• Surface mounted with the supplied mounting clips — the usual method, onto a ceiling, a wall or a joinery face.
• Suspended with the available wire suspensions — which is where the curved diffuser earns its money, because a suspended profile is seen from below and from the side.
• ⚠ End caps are anodised and sold each. Every cut length needs its own pair — two runs from one 2.5 m length need four caps, not two.
• ✅ Custom powder coating is available per the datasheet, which is unusual and worth knowing on a project matching a specific colour. Ask us for lead times.

Working with 2.5-metre lengths

• Supplied in 2,500 mm continuous lengths. ⚠ That is a shipping and handling consideration as much as a design one — a 2.5 m extrusion does not go in a car boot.
• Aluminium cuts cleanly with a mitre saw and a fine blade. ⚠ Deburr the cut end before the diffuser goes in, or it will scar.
• ⚠ Plan the profile lengths and the strip cut increments together. A COB strip cuts every 25 mm, so setting the extrusion out first and the strip afterwards is how a join ends up in the wrong place.

Choosing the finish

• Natural clear anodised — the standard, and it sits well against metal, stone and concrete.
• Black — against dark joinery, and it reads as a shadow line when unlit.
• White — against white cabinetry and painted plasterboard, where it should not be seen at all.

• ✅ Suspended runs over benches and tables — seen from below and the side.
• ✅ Wall-mounted lines at eye level.
• ✅ Under open shelving and joinery faces.
• ✅ Kitchens, workshops and garages — the diffuser keeps vapours and dust off the LEDs.
• ⛔ Not a light — the strip and driver are separate.
