Two sources say 2.5 metres and the title says one. ⚠ That is a two-and-a-half-fold difference on a part sold by length, so it changes both the price comparison and the number of pieces a run needs. Tell us the run length you need and we will confirm what ships before you order.

⚠ The section is also not recorded. The datasheet gives the profile as 42.5 mm wide × 56 mm high; our record's fields hold 2,500 mm for both width and length and 19.6 mm for height, none of which describes the extrusion. Work to 42.5 × 56 mm.

A deep profile, and why that is the point
  • 56 mm deep is substantial — more than eight times the depth of a slim 17 × 7 mm profile.
  • ✅ Depth is what hides LEDs. The further the diffuser sits from the strip, the more completely the individual diodes disappear — so a deep profile can take an ordinary SMD strip and still read as a continuous line, where a shallow one needs a dotless COB strip to manage it.
  • ✅ The wrap-around diffuser covers the face and both sides, so the profile glows as a bar rather than as a lit slot. That is a deliberately visible detail, not a concealed one.
  • ⚠ At 42.5 × 56 mm it is an object on the surface, not a shadow line. Specify it where you want to see a lit bar — a wall, a ceiling run, a joinery face — not where you want the light to appear from nowhere.
What the profile does for the strip
  • ✅ Heat. Extruded aluminium 6063 is a heatsink. Strip run bare against plasterboard or timber runs hotter, and heat is what shortens strip life and shifts its colour.
  • ✅ Protection. Domus's own description makes the point that the profile keeps the LEDs free of foreign objects and vapours — which matters more in a workshop, a garage or a kitchen than people expect.
  • ✅ Invisible screw mounting. The fixings are concealed within the profile, so a surface-mounted run shows no screws on the face.
  • ✅ It keeps the line straight. Adhesive strip on a bare surface wanders; an extrusion does not.
Finishes and accessories
  • Natural clear anodised — the standard finish, and it sits well against metal, stone and concrete.
  • Black and white — powder coated.
  • ✅ Custom powder coating is available per the datasheet, which is unusual and worth knowing on a project matching a specific colour. Ask us for lead times.
  • End caps (silver) and wire suspensions are supplied as accessories, sold each.
  • ⚠ Every cut length needs its own end caps. Two runs from one length need four caps, not two.
⛔ The strip, the driver and the width question
  • The LED strip and its driver are both separate purchases.
  • ⛔ No source records the maximum strip width this channel accepts. A 42.5 mm outer profile is generous, so most strips will fit — but "most" is not a specification. Tell us which strip you are running and we will confirm with Domus.
  • ✅ Because it is deep, you have a real choice of strip here. A dotless COB gives the cleanest result; an ordinary SMD strip will also disappear behind 56 mm of depth, which it would not in a shallow profile.
  • ⚠ Plan the profile lengths and the strip cut increments together. A COB strip cuts every 25 mm; setting the extrusion out first and the strip afterwards is how a join ends up in the wrong place.

How big is the profile itself?

42.5 mm wide by 56 mm high, from the datasheet — and it appears in no product field. Our record holds 2,500 mm for both width and length, which is the length in two places, and a height of 19.6 mm that matches neither source. Work to 42.5 × 56 mm, and tell us if the space is tight and we will measure one.

Does it come with an LED strip?

No. A profile is a channel — an aluminium extrusion with a diffuser, and here with end caps and wire suspensions available as accessories. The LED strip goes inside it and is bought separately, along with its driver.

Which strip should I use in it?

You have more choice here than in a slim profile, because 56 mm of depth hides the LEDs well: a dotless COB strip gives the cleanest result, but an ordinary SMD strip will also read as a continuous line behind this much depth, which it would not in a 7 mm profile. What no source records is the maximum strip width the channel accepts — a 42.5 mm outer profile is generous, but "most will fit" is not a specification. Tell us which strip and we will confirm.

Will I see the fixing screws?

No — the mounting screws are concealed within the profile, which is one of the reasons to use an extrusion rather than sticking strip to a surface. The wrap-around diffuser then covers the face and both sides, so the profile reads as a lit bar with nothing visible holding it up.

Can I get it in a custom colour?

Yes — the datasheet offers custom powder coating, which is unusual and genuinely useful on a project matching a specific colour. Ask us for lead times, because a custom finish is not a stock item and it will add time to the order.

How many end caps do I need?

Two per finished run, not two per length ordered. If you cut one length into two runs you need four caps. They are sold each, along with the wire suspensions, so tell us the run layout and we will count them rather than have you find out on the day.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
