Blaze-Pro PE Cell Plug & Play Sensor

The BLAZE-PRO PE cell is a plug-and-play photoelectric sensor that switches a BLAZE-PRO floodlight on at dusk and off at dawn.

⛔ What we cannot tell you, and why it matters here

Our record for this product holds one field. There is no datasheet.

• ⛔ The lux threshold is not recorded — and on a photoelectric cell that is the specification. It decides whether the light comes on at first dusk or only at proper dark, and whether an overcast afternoon triggers it.
• ⛔ Whether the threshold is adjustable is not recorded either. Some PE cells are fixed and some have a dial; the difference matters on a site where the fitting faces a bright wall or a street light.
• ⛔ The switching load is not recorded, nor the dimensions or the warranty term.
• ✅ Ask us and we will get all of them from Domus before you order.

Why a plug-in accessory beats a separate sensor

• ✅ Every BLAZE-PRO floodlight has a sensor adaptor interface built in, so this fits without wiring and without a second device on the wall.
• ✅ It can be added later — fit the floodlights, live with them, then decide. That is the right order, because most people over-specify sensing before they have seen the light in place.
• ✅ And removed just as easily, which matters if the behaviour turns out not to suit the position.
• ⚠ It only fits BLAZE-PRO floodlights. It is not a general-purpose PE cell.

Siting a photoelectric cell

• ⚠ Keep it out of the light it controls. A PE cell that can see its own floodlight will switch off, then on, then off — a slow hunting cycle that is obvious and eventually damaging.
• ⚠ Keep it away from street lights and neighbouring security lights for the same reason.
• ✅ Point it at open sky where possible, and away from anything reflective.
• ⚠ Consider the running hours. A PE cell means the floodlight runs every night from dusk to dawn — on average around eleven hours in Australia. Over a year that is roughly 4,000 hours, so a 50,000-hour fitting is on a twelve-year replacement cycle rather than a thirty-year one. Where continuous light is not actually needed, a PIR uses a fraction of that.

Where each one belongs

• ✅ PE cell: a shopfront, a car park, a yard that needs to be lit all night, a commercial entry, a security position where continuous light is the deterrent.
• ✅ PIR: a domestic driveway, a side path, a back door, a garage approach.
• ✅ Both together is a legitimate combination on some sites — but not on one fitting. Ask us if that is what you are after and we will work out the arrangement.

• ✅ On any BLAZE-PRO floodlight, via the built-in sensor adaptor interface.
• ✅ Shopfronts, car parks, commercial entries and yards lit all night.
• ✅ Retrofitted to floodlights already installed.
• ⛔ Not on other floodlights — it is a BLAZE-PRO accessory.
• ⛔ Not where you want the light to respond to arrival — that is the PIR.
