The Domus AVIGNON post top is the lantern configured to sit directly on top of a post — die-cast aluminium with a moulded acrylic lens, IP43, taking a B22 lamp, in beige, black, burgundy, green or white.

⛔ This item is made to order

Domus builds this fitting to order and asks for up to 10 business days for production before it ships. It is not picked off a shelf.

  • ⭐ That is the trade-off for the five finishes. The body is powder-coated in the colour you choose after you order, which is why the range offers Beige, Black, Burgundy, Green and White rather than one stocked colour.
  • ⚠ Plan the lead time into the job. If it is needed for a handover, a settlement or a booked electrician, tell us the date when you order and we will confirm the production window with Domus.
  • ⚠ Order the whole set together. On a property using several of these, a second order placed later starts its own ten days — and a later powder-coat batch is not guaranteed to match the first.

⚠ Do not size anything from the dimensions on this listing. They record 105 mm wide and 46 mm high, and neither can describe the lantern.

The AVIGNON lantern is 215 mm wide and about 540 mm tall — that is what the same head records on the pillar-mount listing, and 500 mm on the up-arm wall bracket. The 105 × 46 mm figures here look like the spigot collar that fits the post, not the fitting that sits on it.

What a post top is, and what it is not

  • ✅ Which makes this the part for an existing post — a masonry pier, a timber post, or a metal post already set in concrete. On an established garden that is the difference between a lighting job and an excavation.
  • ⚠ The spigot has to match the post. Domus also sells a 60 mm post-top adaptor in the GT range for exactly this. Send us a photograph of the post top and the spigot diameter and we will confirm what fits.
⛔ The maximum lamp wattage is not recorded anywhere
  • B22 bayonet, and no source states a maximum — the figure that decides what can safely be fitted.
  • ⚠ Every AVIGNON configuration shares this gap, and it is now the eighth Domus lamp-holder fitting we have found in that position.
  • ✅ An LED B22 at 9–11 W gives roughly what a 60 W incandescent did and runs cool inside a sealed acrylic lens.

  • ⚠ The acrylic lens can craze under years of full sun. It will not shatter, which is useful on a pier beside a driveway, but expect it to need replacing before the die-cast body does.

Its sheet reads "Requires: Lamp GT-271 Wall Bracket". ⛔ A post top does not need a wall bracket — the line names another configuration in the same family, and it is the tenth Domus product found with a "requires" line describing a sibling. What this needs is a post with a matching spigot and a B22 lamp.

Does it come with a post?

No — this is the lantern on its own, made to fit the top of a post. That is what makes it the right part for an existing post, pier or masonry column: on an established garden, reusing a post already set in concrete is the difference between a lighting job and an excavation. If you need the post as well, the range includes complete post lights in single, twin and triple heads on six post heights.

How big is it?

Roughly 215 mm wide and 540 mm tall, which is what the same lantern records on other configurations in this range. Do not use the figures on this listing — it records 105 × 46 mm, and neither can describe a lantern. Those look like the spigot collar that fits the post rather than the fitting that sits on it. Ask us and we will confirm both with Domus.

Will it fit my post?

Send us a photograph of the post top and the measured spigot diameter and we will confirm. The spigot has to match the post, and Domus also makes a 60 mm post-top adaptor in the GT range for exactly this situation. Measure the metal spigot rather than the visible post diameter — many posts are narrower at the top than they look.

What is the biggest lamp I can put in it?

Not recorded in any source, and we will not guess. Neither the datasheet nor our record states a maximum for the B22 holder, and every AVIGNON configuration shares that gap. An LED B22 at 9–11 W sidesteps it — roughly what a 60 W incandescent gave, running cool inside a sealed acrylic lens. Ask us before fitting anything else.

Is IP43 enough on a post top?

It is the position IP43 is least suited to, because a post top stands clear of planting, fences and buildings and catches everything. IP43 covers spray falling at up to 60° from vertical — not driven rain, not hosing. Tell us how sheltered the pier or post is and we will say whether it suits or point you at something rated higher.

Does it need a wall bracket?

No, and its datasheet says otherwise, which is why we are addressing it. The sheet carries a line reading "Requires: Lamp GT-271 Wall Bracket" — that names another configuration in the same family, not a part this fitting needs. A post top needs a post with a matching spigot and a B22 lamp.

Can I match it elsewhere on the property?

Yes, and it is the main reason to choose this range. The same lantern head is made in seven configurations — post top, pillar mount, wall bracket in up or down arm, chain pendant, and single, twin or triple head on posts. Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
