The Domus AVIGNON 1LT is a traditional exterior post light — one lantern head on a 2.26 metre post, in die-cast aluminium with a moulded acrylic lens, IP43, taking a B22 lamp, in beige, black, burgundy, green or white.
Domus builds this fitting to order and asks for up to 10 business days for production before it ships. It is not picked off a shelf.
✅ 2.26 m is the tallest single-head post in the range, and height buys you reach.
A lantern above head height throws light further across a surface before it falls off — which is what a driveway, a forecourt or a wide approach needs and what a 1.9 m path post cannot do. ✅ Fewer posts cover more ground.
⚠ The trade-off is that the lantern is now a visible object at a distance, lit and at height. On a formal approach that reads as deliberate; in a small garden it will dominate. Tell us the space and we will say whether the height suits.
✅ The same head is made as a wall bracket, a pillar mount, a post top, a pendant, and single, twin or triple head on posts of six heights.
On a driveway approach with piers and a front door, that is one lantern in three mountings — and the 2.26 m post is the natural partner to a pillar mount on the gate piers. ⚠ No page in the catalogue says the others exist. Tell us the positions and we will quote the set.
Its sheet reads "Requires: Lamp GT-271 Wall Bracket". ⛔ A post light does not need a wall bracket — the line names another configuration in the same family, and it is the tenth such case found in this catalogue. What this needs is a footing and a B22 lamp.
AVIGNON traditional exterior post light, single head on a 2.26 m post. Overall height 2,290 mm; lantern 215 mm wide. Die-cast aluminium with a moulded acrylic lens; made in Italy, assembled and powder coated in Australia. B22 bayonet lamp holder — lamp not included. ⛔ Maximum lamp wattage is not recorded in any source — ask us. 220–240 V AC. IP43 — ⚠ worth questioning at this height, which stands clear of shelter. Beige, black, burgundy, green or white. ⚠ Warranty 1 year.
⛔ No footing specification, wind rating or post weight is recorded in any source — at 2.26 m those matter. Ask us and we will get what Domus specifies before anything is dug. ✅ The same lantern is available in seven configurations.

Reach. A lantern above head height throws light further across a surface before it falls off, which is what a driveway, a forecourt or a wide approach needs and what a 1.9 m path post cannot do — so fewer posts cover more ground. The trade-off is that the lantern becomes a visible lit object at a distance, which reads as deliberate on a formal approach and dominates a small garden.
Not recorded in any source, and at 2.26 m that matters — a taller post carries more wind load, and the loads at the base rise faster than the height does. Ask us and we will get what Domus specifies, and tell your installer before anything is dug, because the footing is a groundwork job that happens before the electrician arrives.
Usually not, and it is a common mistake. More output from a high lantern mostly produces glare and light spill onto neighbouring property — the reach comes from the height, not the wattage. A 9–11 W LED B22 at 2700 to 3000 K is the sensible choice. Cooler light at this height reads as a commercial car park.
This is the height at which it is worth questioning. A 2.26 m lantern stands clear of planting, fences and buildings, so it catches weather that a shorter post tucked into a bed does not — and IP43 covers spray falling at up to 60° from vertical, not driven rain and not hosing. Tell us the exposure and we will say whether it suits or point you at something rated higher.
Not recorded. Neither the datasheet nor our record states a maximum for the B22 holder, and it is the fourth Domus lamp-holder fitting we have found in that position. Ask us and we will get the figure from Domus. An LED B22 sidesteps the question entirely and runs cool inside a sealed acrylic lens.
The body will outlast it. The moulded acrylic lens will not shatter, which is useful on a driveway, but it can craze under years of full sun — and at 2.26 m it is in full sun all day. Expect the lens to need replacing before the die-cast aluminium body does; it is a replaceable part rather than a reason to avoid the fitting.
Yes, and it is the natural pairing. The same lantern head is made as a pillar mount, which fixes flat to the top of a gate pier — so a driveway approach can have the 2.26 m posts along it and the same lantern on the piers, reading as one scheme. No page in the catalogue mentions the other configurations; tell us the positions and we will quote the set.
