The Domus AVIGNON 1LT is a traditional exterior post light — one lantern head on a 1.25 metre post, in die-cast aluminium with a moulded acrylic lens, IP43, taking a B22 lamp, in beige, black, burgundy, green or white.
Domus builds this fitting to order and asks for up to 10 business days for production before it ships. It is not picked off a shelf.
✅ 1.25 m is the shortest post in the AVIGNON range, and the height decides what it is for.
| Post | Heads | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| 1.25 m (this) | 1 | Garden beds, low planting, path edges — light close to the ground, not in the eyeline |
| 1.9 m | 1 | Paths and walkways at standing height |
| 2.26 m | 1 | Driveways and wider approaches |
| 1.4 / 2.05 / 2.4 m | 2 | Twin heads — entries and driveway gates |
| 2.4 m | 3 | Triple head — a formal entrance |
⚠ At 1.25 m the lantern sits at roughly waist to chest height, so the light lands close around the post rather than spreading down a path. ✅ That suits a garden bed or a border where the post is part of the planting; ⛔ for lighting a path to walk along, the 1.9 m is the one.
Its sheet carries a line reading "Requires: Lamp GT-271 Wall Bracket".
⭐ “GT-271” is the lantern series code, not a part number. Every GT code in this catalogue maps to exactly one traditional-lantern family — GT-271 is this one — and each has a matching GTA replacement diffuser sold separately (GTA-271, the AVIGNON series panel set). The line as we extracted it runs three separate things on the sheet together: “Requires: Lamp”, which is true and worth knowing because the lamp is not included; the series code; and the caption of one of the sheet’s diagrams. ✅ So nothing extra is required — but the diffuser is worth knowing about. ⭐ On a die-cast aluminium lantern the acrylic is the part that fails: UV yellows and embrittles it over years while the body lasts decades. Ask us for the GTA-271 panel set rather than replacing the whole fitting.
What this fitting needs is a footing and a B22 lamp.
AVIGNON traditional exterior post light, single head on a 1.25 m post. Overall height 1,300 mm; lantern 215 mm wide. Die-cast aluminium with a moulded acrylic lens; made in Italy, assembled and powder coated in Australia. B22 bayonet lamp holder — lamp not included. ⛔ Maximum lamp wattage is not recorded in any source — ask us before buying globes. 220–240 V AC. IP43 — sheltered positions, not driven rain or hosing. Beige, black, burgundy, green or white. ⚠ Warranty 1 year.
✅ The same lantern is available as a wall bracket, a pillar mount, a post top, a pendant, and single, twin or triple head on posts of six heights. ⚠ Its datasheet's "requires a wall bracket" line refers to a sibling configuration, not to this post light.

Not really — and that is worth saying before you order five of them. At 1.25 m the lantern sits at roughly waist to chest height, so the light lands close around the post rather than spreading down a path. It suits a garden bed, a border or low planting where the post is part of the garden. For lighting a path to walk along, the 1.9 m post is the one.
Not recorded, and we would rather say so than guess. Neither the datasheet nor our record states a maximum for the B22 holder, which is the figure that decides what is safe to fit. It is the fourth Domus lamp-holder fitting we have found in that position, so it is a documentation pattern rather than a one-off. An LED B22 sidesteps it: 9–11 W gives roughly what a 60 W incandescent did and runs cool inside a sealed acrylic lens.
It depends how exposed the position is, and it is worth thinking about rather than accepting. IP43 covers spray falling at up to 60° from vertical — not driven rain and not hosing — while a post light is exposed by definition. On a sheltered bed against a fence or under planting it is reasonable; on an open driveway in a windy position it is marginal. Tell us the position and we will say.
We do not know, and we would rather say so than invent a rule. We compared all 36 Domus post lights that state a height in both places, and there is no consistent convention: this AVIGNON range records above its titles, while the CHESTER, PARIS, TURIN and MONACO ranges all record below theirs and VIENNA records exactly. So neither figure can be assumed to be "the post alone" or "the post plus the lantern" — the difference here is 50 mm and it runs the other way on most of the catalogue. If the height matters against a fence, a gate, a soffit or a sight line, ask us and we will measure a physical post.
No. The datasheet line reading "Requires: Lamp GT-271 Wall Bracket" is three separate things on the sheet run together — "Requires: Lamp", which is true because the lamp is not included; "GT-271", which is the AVIGNON lantern series code rather than a part number; and the caption of one of the sheet's diagrams. Every GT code in this catalogue maps to exactly one lantern family. What this fitting needs is a footing and a B22 lamp. ⭐ One genuinely useful thing comes out of that series code: a replacement acrylic diffuser panel set, the GTA-271, is sold separately — and on a die-cast aluminium lantern the acrylic is the part that fails, since UV yellows and embrittles it over years while the body lasts decades. Ask us for the panel set rather than replacing the whole fitting.
A footing and a cable route. A post needs concrete sized for its height and wind exposure, which is a groundwork job as much as an electrical one and happens before the electrician arrives — and on an established garden the cable route is usually the real constraint rather than the fitting. Plan the post positions before anything is dug, because moving one afterwards means excavation.
Moulded acrylic. It will not shatter, which is an advantage on a garden path or a driveway where things get knocked, but it can craze over years of full sun where glass does not. On an exposed position expect the lens to need replacing before the body does — the body is die-cast aluminium and will outlast it comfortably.
