DOMUS AVIGNON 1LT 1.25M POSTLIGHT B22

The Domus AVIGNON 1LT is a traditional exterior post light — one lantern head on a 1.25 metre post, in die-cast aluminium with a moulded acrylic lens, IP43, taking a B22 lamp, in beige, black, burgundy, green or white.

Domus builds this fitting to order and asks for up to 10 business days for production before it ships. It is not picked off a shelf.

• ⭐ That is the trade-off for the five finishes. The body is powder-coated in the colour you choose after you order, which is why the range offers Beige, Black, Burgundy, Green and White rather than one stocked colour.
• ⚠ Plan the lead time into the job. If it is needed for a handover, a settlement or a booked electrician, tell us the date when you order and we will confirm the production window with Domus.
• ⚠ Order the whole set together. On a property using several of these, a second order placed later starts its own ten days — and a later powder-coat batch is not guaranteed to match the first.

⛔ The maximum lamp wattage is not recorded anywhere

• It takes a B22 bayonet lamp and no source states a maximum. On a lamp-holder fitting that is the figure that decides what can safely be fitted.
• ⚠ It is the fourth Domus lamp-holder fitting we have found in this position, after the GT-670 pendant, the SHADOW 1LT wall light and the AVIGNON pillar mount — a documentation pattern rather than a single omission.
• ✅ An LED B22 sidesteps it. A 9–11 W LED gives roughly what a 60 W incandescent did and runs cool inside a sealed acrylic lens, which matters more outdoors than in.
• Ask us before fitting anything else and we will get the figure from Domus.

⚠ IP43 — and what a post does about it

• IP43 is protection against spray falling at up to 60° from vertical. Not driven rain, and not hosing.
• ⚠ A post light is exposed by definition, which makes this rating worth thinking about rather than accepting. On a sheltered garden bed against a fence or under planting it is reasonable; on an open driveway in a windy position it is marginal.
• ✅ Tell us how exposed the position is and we will say whether it suits, or point you at something rated higher.
• ⚠ The lens is moulded acrylic, not glass. It will not shatter — an advantage at a driveway or a garden path where things get knocked — but it can craze under years of full sun. Expect the lens to need replacing before the body does.

⭐ Made in Italy, assembled and powder coated in Australia

• ✅ Local powder coating is why five colours exist on a traditional lantern where most ranges offer two.
• Black and white against most render and brick; green in a planted garden, where it disappears against hedging; beige against sandstone and lighter brick; burgundy as a period choice.
• ✅ Use the range. Five colours on a garden post is unusual, and matching the house rather than defaulting to black is most of what makes traditional exterior lighting look considered.

⚠ About the "Requires: Wall Bracket" line on its datasheet

Its sheet carries a line reading "Requires: Lamp GT-271 Wall Bracket".

⭐ “GT-271” is the lantern series code, not a part number. Every GT code in this catalogue maps to exactly one traditional-lantern family — GT-271 is this one — and each has a matching GTA replacement diffuser sold separately (GTA-271, the AVIGNON series panel set). The line as we extracted it runs three separate things on the sheet together: “Requires: Lamp”, which is true and worth knowing because the lamp is not included; the series code; and the caption of one of the sheet’s diagrams. ✅ So nothing extra is required — but the diffuser is worth knowing about. ⭐ On a die-cast aluminium lantern the acrylic is the part that fails: UV yellows and embrittles it over years while the body lasts decades. Ask us for the GTA-271 panel set rather than replacing the whole fitting.

What this fitting needs is a footing and a B22 lamp.

Installing it

• ⚠ A post needs a footing. Concrete, sized for the height and the wind exposure — which is a groundwork job as much as an electrical one, and it happens before the electrician arrives.
• ⚠ And a cable route to it. On an established garden that is usually the constraint, not the fitting.
• ✅ Plan the post positions before anything is dug. Moving one afterwards means excavation.
• ⚠ Warranty is one year, the term across the AVIGNON range.
