The Domus ZEKE-PRO-8 surface-mounted, 240 V is the largest surface step light in the range — 240 V AC, 8 W, 421–495 lumens, CRI ≥90, IP65, not dimmable, in black or white.
⭐ The three colours give 421 lm at 3000 K, 462 at 4000 and 495 at 5000. ⭐⭐ SO THE WARMEST SETTING IS ALSO THE DIMMEST, BY ABOUT 15%. ⭐ On a fitting with no dimmer that is the one lever you have, and it happens to point the same way as the aesthetic advice: 3000 K flatters stone, brick and planting where 5000 K reads as institutional. ⭐ Set it at 3000 K and you get the better colour and the lower output in one decision. ⭐ It is switchable on the fitting, so this is set at installation — ⚠ make sure all of them get set the same way, because a run at mixed colour temperatures is very obvious at night.
⭐ Most exterior step lights run CRI 70 to 80. ⭐⭐ AT CRI ≥90 SANDSTONE, BRICK, TIMBER AND RENDER KEEP THEIR COLOUR, and on the largest fitting in the family that quality is applied across the widest area — ⭐ so the CRI is doing more visible work here than on any other unit in the range. ⭐ The 120° beam covers about a metre of path from a 300 mm mounting.
⭐ “A special chromate process before a polyester powder coated finish is applied.” ⭐ A conversion coating on the bare aluminium before paint, which decides whether the powder coat stays attached — untreated aluminium lets it lift at any chip and corrosion runs underneath. ⭐⭐ ON THE LARGEST SURFACE FITTING THAT MATTERS MOST OF ALL: the biggest exposed body, at ground level, meeting mowers, edgers, irrigation and fertiliser. ⛔ Its application field says “Indoor” — one of 78 IP65+ products that do.

Surface-mounted LED step light, 8 W. 240 V AC. 421/462/495 lm at 3000/4000/5000 K switchable. CRI ≥90, 120° beam. IP65. Not dimmable. Cast aluminium, chromate-treated, TPS cable gland. 50,000 hrs. ⚠ 495 LUMENS, SURFACE-MOUNTED, WITH NO DIMMER IS THE COMBINATION TO THINK ABOUT — a surface fitting sits proud of the wall so its source is less shielded than a recessed one's, and this is the fitting in the family most likely to end up too bright. The answers in order: mount it lower rather than higher, space them further apart than you think, and set 3000 K. ⭐ THAT LAST ONE IS UNUSUALLY CONVENIENT HERE BECAUSE 3000 K IS ALSO THE DIMMEST SETTING, by about 15% — so the warmer colour and the lower output come in one decision, and both are the right call outdoors.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
It is the one in the family most likely to be. At 495 lumens it is the brightest, it is not dimmable, and a surface fitting sits proud of the wall so its source is less shielded than a recessed one's — a recessed unit's own aperture shades it from oblique angles where a surface unit is visible from further along the path. Over-brightness is the commonest fault in low-level lighting.
In order: mount it lower rather than higher, space them further apart than you think, and set 3000K. If there is real doubt, take the 5W version or a dimmable 24V unit instead.
Because it is also the dimmest setting — 421lm against 495 at 5000K, about 15% lower. On a fitting with no dimmer that is the one lever you have, and it happens to point the same way as the aesthetic advice: 3000K flatters stone, brick and planting where 5000K reads as institutional. Set it at 3000K and you get the better colour and the lower output in one decision.
Yes, it is switchable on the fitting. Make sure all of them get set the same way — a run at mixed colour temperatures is very obvious at night and awkward to correct once everything is fixed and sealed.
Mostly the hole. The recessed version needs a 210 x 60mm cutout — longer than a brick is tall, crossing a mortar course, and genuinely difficult to core after the fact. The surface version sidesteps all of it with a cable and two fixings, and it is the same engine with the same output and the same CRI ≥90.
That is one of its advantages. A surface fitting in the wrong place leaves two holes; a recessed one leaves a hole to patch. Given that this is the fitting most likely to be too bright in a given position, being able to move it is worth something real.
More than on any other unit in the range. It is a conversion coating on the bare aluminium before paint, and it decides whether the powder coat stays attached — untreated aluminium lets it lift at any chip and corrosion runs underneath. This is the biggest exposed body in the family, at ground level, meeting mowers, edgers, irrigation and fertiliser.
