Domus ZEKE-PRO 5 SQR Sm IP65 5W TRIO 24V

The Domus ZEKE-PRO-5 square surface-mounted, 24 V is a low-voltage surface step light — 105 × 105 × 34 mm, 12/24 V DC, 5 W, 305–365 lumens, CRI ≥90, IP65, dimmable, in black or white.

⛔⛔ Three separate faults on one product

• ⭐⭐ THE VOLTAGE ONE IS THE DANGEROUS ONE. ⭐ A 24 V DC fitting connected to 240 V mains is destroyed instantly and is a shock and fire risk. ⭐ The title says 24V and it is right; the record is wrong.
• ⭐ Measured two independent ways: 14 products flagged by their datasheet, 26 by their title, 12 by both. ⭐ The intersection is the answer because each list's false positives are dropped by the other — notably LED drivers, whose 240 V INPUT is correctly recorded while their titles name the 12 V output.
• ⭐ THE OTHER TWO ARE DOCUMENTATION FAULTS, NOT SAFETY ONES. ⭐ The datasheet's prose was carried from a superseded 4 W model and never updated: it names ZEKE-PRO-4 and claims 4 W, while its own spec table on the same page says 5 W.
• ⭐ MEASURED: 2 of 14 products whose title and sheet both name a MODEL-PRO-N have a sheet that never names the product's own model — ⭐ this one and its round sibling. ⭐ And all four ZEKE-PRO-5 sheets say 4 W in prose against a 5 W spec.
• ⭐ THE SPEC TABLE IS THE RELIABLE HALF. ⭐ Take 5 W and 305–365 lm; ignore the prose figure.

⭐ Surface-mounted — the retrofit answer

• ⭐ ZEKE-PRO is the surface version of the recessed ZAC-PRO. ⭐⭐ SAME ENGINE, SAME OUTPUT (305/348/365 lm), SAME CRI ≥90 — the only difference is that it sits on the wall instead of in it.
• ⭐⭐ THAT MAKES IT THE ANSWER FOR EVERYTHING ALREADY BUILT. ⭐ No coring, no chasing, no box cast into a stair — a surface fitting needs a cable and two fixings. ⭐ On an existing masonry wall or a finished concrete stair that is the difference between a half-day job and a fortnight.
• ⭐ ITS OWN DESCRIPTION NAMES THE CASE: “any area in which recessed mounting is not an option”.
• ⚠ THE TRADE IS THAT IT PROJECTS 34 mm. ⭐ On a stair or a narrow path that is something to catch a shoe or a shin, so keep it out of the walking line — above a handrail line, or on a return face rather than the face people brush past.

⭐ Square rather than round — and it is not only taste

⭐ The square and round ZEKE-PRO-5 are identical in every published specification. ⭐⭐ SO THE CHOICE IS ABOUT WHAT IS AROUND IT: a square fitting aligns with brick courses, tile grids, paver joints and rendered reveals, and a round one does not. ⭐ On coursed brickwork a square unit set to the course reads as deliberate; a circle reads as applied. ⭐ On render, stone or anything irregular the round one is easier to place because there is no alignment to get wrong. ⭐ Pick one and use it throughout — mixing them on one property is the thing that looks unresolved.

⭐ Dimmable, and low voltage is why

⭐ This version dims with a dimmable driver; ⛔ the 240 V ZEKE-PRO-5 does not. ⭐ The driver is external on a low-voltage fitting, so the dimming choice exists; a mains version has its supply built in and nowhere to put it. ⭐ WE CHECKED WHETHER THAT GENERALISES — ⭐ all 6 low-voltage step lights in the range dim, ⚠ but 4 of 10 mains ones do too. ⭐ So it is a strong tendency, not a law: low voltage guarantees the option and mains does not rule it out.

⭐ The chromate process, and why it predicts service life

⭐ The aluminium gets “a special chromate process before a polyester powder coated finish is applied”. ⭐⭐ THAT IS A CONVERSION COATING ON THE BARE METAL BEFORE PAINT, AND IT DECIDES WHETHER THE POWDER COAT STAYS ATTACHED. ⭐ Untreated aluminium lets the coating lift at any chip and corrosion then runs underneath it. ⭐⭐ ON A SURFACE-MOUNTED FITTING THAT MATTERS MORE THAN ON A RECESSED ONE, because the whole body is exposed rather than just a trim — ⭐ and at ground level it meets mowers, edgers, irrigation and fertiliser.

⛔ And its application field says "Indoor"

⭐ On an IP65 fitting whose own description calls it useful for external pathways. ⭐ Measured: 78 products rated IP65 or better publish application = Indoor. ⚠ Harmless on a page someone reads; misleading in a filter.
