The Domus ZAC-PRO-8 recessed, 24 V is a linear low-voltage recessed step light — 226 mm long, 12/24 V DC, 8 W, 421–495 lumens, CRI ≥90, IP65, dimmable, in black or white.
⭐ Title 24V; datasheet 12/24V DC requiring a constant-voltage driver; record voltage = 240V, ac_dc = AC. ⭐⭐ CONNECTING IT TO MAINS DESTROYS IT INSTANTLY AND IS A SHOCK AND FIRE RISK. ⭐ The title is right and the record is wrong. ⭐ We measured the fault two independent ways — 14 products by datasheet, 26 by title, 12 by both — and the intersection is the answer because each list's false positives are excluded by the other. ⚠ Note especially that LED drivers appear in the title list and are NOT faults: a 12 V driver's input is 240 V AC, correctly recorded, while its title names the output.
⭐ This version dims with a dimmable driver; ⛔ the 240 V ZAC-PRO-8 does not. ⭐⭐ ON THE 8 W UNIT THAT MATTERS MORE THAN ON THE 5 W ONE, because 495 lumens across a tread is genuinely bright at close range — ⭐ and over-brightness is the commonest fault in low-level lighting. ⭐ A dimmer lets you set it once on site, which is the only place the right level can actually be judged. ⭐ All 6 low-voltage step lights in the range dim; ⚠ 4 of 10 mains ones do too, so this is a strong tendency rather than a law.
⭐ A 12/24 V DC constant-voltage driver, wired in parallel. ⭐⭐ AT 8 W EACH THESE ADD UP FASTER: six is 48 W, which already needs a 100 W driver to have sensible headroom. ⭐ A driver run at full load is the component that fails, and it fails years before the LEDs do. ⚠ Also check the voltage drop on a long run — at 24 V, cable resistance matters over distances that would be irrelevant at 240 V, and the far fitting going dim is the usual symptom.
⭐ Most exterior step lights run CRI 70 to 80. ⭐ At CRI ≥90 sandstone, brick and timber keep their colour — the materials a step light washes from close range and exactly what looks flat and grey under low-CRI light. ⭐ The 120° beam spreads output downward across about a metre of path from a 300 mm mounting, so on a run of steps one every second or third tread is usually enough. ⭐ Set 3000 K outdoors unless there is a reason not to.

No. Its title says 24V, its datasheet says 12/24V DC and requires a constant-voltage driver, and its record publishes voltage = 240V with ac_dc = AC. That record is wrong, and connecting it to mains destroys it instantly and is a shock and fire risk. Twelve products in this catalogue carry the same fault, confirmed by two independent signals.
The shape, mostly. This is the 226mm linear unit where the ZAC-PRO-5 is round or square, and a linear fitting washes a band across a tread where a round one throws a pool. On a wide stair or a broad path that is the whole decision — a pool leaves the edges of a 1.2m tread dark, and it is the edge of a step people misjudge.
About a third — 421/462/495lm against 305/348/365 — for 60% more power. So it is less efficient per lumen, and you are buying the shape and the spread rather than the output.
210 x 60mm without the recessed box, 220 x 70mm with it, so the accessory changes the hole in both dimensions and the decision must come before cutting. Its depth is 53.5mm plus the box — check that against the wall thickness, particularly on a single-skin wall.
It needs thinking about. A 210mm slot is longer than a standard brick is tall and crosses a mortar course, so in brickwork it is a cut through a joint rather than a hole in a face — worth confirming with the bricklayer, not just the electrician. In a poured concrete stair it wants a box cast in at the pour; coring a 210 x 60mm rectangle afterwards is genuinely difficult and usually looks it.
