⭐ Title 24V; datasheet 12/24V DC requiring a constant-voltage driver wired in parallel; record voltage = 240V, ac_dc = AC. ⭐⭐ MAINS CONNECTION DESTROYS IT INSTANTLY AND IS A SHOCK AND FIRE RISK. THE TITLE IS RIGHT AND THE RECORD IS WRONG. ⭐ Confirmed with two independent signals — 14 products flagged by datasheet, 26 by title, 12 by both — where the intersection is the answer because each list's false positives are excluded by the other. ⚠ LED drivers appear in the title list and are NOT faults: a driver's 240 V input is correctly recorded while its title names the 12 V output.

⭐ The cutout depends on an accessory — and the family sheets disagree on it

• ⭐ This sheet publishes Ø100 mm without the recessed box and Ø110 mm with it. ⭐⭐ SO THE ACCESSORY CHANGES THE HOLE, AND THE DECISION MUST COME BEFORE CUTTING.
• ⚠ BUT NOTE WHAT THAT SAYS: a round Ø110 mm cutout for a square product. ⭐ Its 240 V twin's sheet gives 110 × 110 mm for the with-box case, which is the figure that makes sense for a square fitting.
• ⭐ THE Ø IS ALMOST CERTAINLY CARRIED OVER FROM THE ROUND VERSION'S SHEET. ⭐ We have published 110 × 110 mm as the with-box figure, because a square fitting in a round hole leaves gaps at the corners that the trim cannot cover.
• ⭐ Four products in this range publish two cutouts. ⚠ Nothing on any listing flags that the figure depends on an accessory, and on a step light the hole is in masonry — the one dimension that cannot be corrected once cut.

⭐ Square recessed — the format that disappears

• ⭐⭐ A RECESSED FITTING IS INVISIBLE IN DAYLIGHT in a way a surface one never is. ⭐ On a considered facade or a clean stair that is the whole reason to accept the extra work.
• ⭐ AND A SQUARE RECESSED UNIT ALIGNS WITH WHAT IS AROUND IT — ⭐ brick courses, tile grids, paver joints, rendered reveals. ⭐ Set to the course it reads as part of the wall; a circle in coursed brickwork always reads as applied.
• ⚠ THE PRICE IS THAT THE HOLE IS PERMANENT. ⭐ Choosing the box, the shape and the position are all one decision made before anyone cuts, and changing your mind afterwards means patching masonry.

⭐ Dimmable, which the 240 V version is not

⭐ Dimmable with a dimmable driver. ⛔ The mains ZAC-PRO-5 is not. ⭐ The dimming lives in the driver, which on a low-voltage fitting is external and therefore yours to choose. ⭐ ALL 6 low-voltage step lights in the range dim; ⚠ 4 of 10 mains ones do too, so it is a strong tendency rather than a law. ⭐ It matters because over-brightness is the commonest fault in low-level lighting, and a dimmer fixes it on site rather than by changing fittings.

⭐ The driver and the run

⭐ 12/24 V DC constant voltage, wired in parallel so each fitting draws its own 5 W from a shared voltage and a failure does not propagate. ⭐ Size with headroom — six is 30 W, so a 60 W driver runs cool. ⚠ Site it reachable; it is the part most likely to need replacing. ⚠ And check voltage drop on a long run: at 24 V cable resistance matters over distances that are irrelevant at 240 V, and the far fitting dimming is the usual symptom.

⭐ CRI ≥90 on the materials it actually lights

⭐ Most exterior step lights run CRI 70 to 80, assuming nobody judges colour on a path at night. ⭐⭐ BUT SANDSTONE, BRICK, TIMBER AND RENDER ARE EXACTLY WHAT LOOKS FLAT AND GREY UNDER LOW-CRI LIGHT, and they are what a recessed step light washes from 300 mm away. ⭐ At CRI ≥90 the material keeps its colour, which is the reason to light a stair at low level rather than from above. ⭐ 305/348/365 lm across the three colours; set 3000 K outdoors.
