The Domus AURA is a 3 W recessed LED step light in die-cast aluminium with an asymmetric optic, CRI ≥90 and switchable 2700 K / 4000 K / 6000 K. Square fascia, five aperture designs, Ø35 mm cutout.

⚠ Square frame, five fascias — the round one has six

If the Halo glow is the effect you are after, it is the round frame. ✅ Otherwise the two frames stock the same five apertures, so the choice is purely how the trim reads on the wall.

⚠ A square trim shows rotation where a round one hides it. On a run of step lights up a stair — seen all at once, at close range — that matters more than it does on a ceiling. Set them out to a level line.

⛔ The fascia changes the output by more than three times

✅ Slot or Wide where the light has to reach a tread or a floor; Narrow for a tighter wash; the Rings where the fitting is a marker. ⚠ The Square Ring in a square frame is the most graphic combination and the second dimmest — a deliberate detail rather than a light.

⭐ CRI ≥90 and an asymmetric optic

• CRI ≥90 — above the ≥80 most of this catalogue runs, and unusual at 3 W.
• ✅ It matters because of the geometry. A step light grazes a tread or a floor from very close at a shallow angle, and at that angle a poor spectrum shows as a flat grey wash rather than the material's real colour.
• ⭐ The asymmetric optic throws forward and down, putting light on the tread ahead rather than the riser below.
• ⚠ Which means it has an orientation — it must go in the right way up. We will confirm that with the order.

2700 K to 6000 K

• 2700 K — extra warm, and rare in this catalogue. Hotel corridors, residential stairs.
• 4000 K — the brightest on every fascia; the neutral choice for commercial walkways.
• ⚠ 6000 K — colder than the 5700 K most of this catalogue offers, and rarely right at low level in a building people live in.
• ⚠ Set by dip switch before installation, and set a whole run the same way. A line of step lights is seen all at once.

Installing it

• Ø35 mm cutout — small, and it goes into a wall, so the constraint is usually the stud or block behind rather than a void.
• IP20 — ⚠ dry interiors only. Not an external stair.
• Dimmable with suitable dimmers — ⚠ on 24 V the driver must support it too.
• ⚠ Typically 200–300 mm above the tread. Too high and it becomes a glare source at eye level. Tell us the stair geometry and we will suggest a height.
