The Domus AURA is a 3 W recessed LED step light in die-cast aluminium with an asymmetric optic, CRI ≥90 and switchable 2700 K / 4000 K / 6000 K. Round fascia, six aperture designs, Ø35 mm cutout.
⛔ This is the 24 V version and it needs a driver. Our record says 240 V AC, and that is wrong.
It runs on 24 V DC and requires a constant-voltage LED driver, which is not included. ⚠ We are flagging it because a mains entry on an extra-low-voltage fitting is the kind of error that reaches a wiring decision — and a step light is exactly the sort of thing an electrician wires in a run without re-reading the sheet.
✅ Domus does make a 240 V version of the AURA. Tell us which you want and we will make sure the right one ships, because the two look identical.
| Fascia | 2700 K | 4000 K | 6000 K |
|---|---|---|---|
| Slot | 26 lm | 31 lm | 30 lm |
| Wide | 25 lm | 30 lm | 30 lm |
| Narrow | 12 lm | 15 lm | 15 lm |
| Round Ring | 10 lm | 12 lm | 12 lm |
| Square Ring | 10 lm | 11 lm | 11 lm |
| Halo | 7 lm | 9 lm | 9 lm |
Slot at 31 lm against Halo at 9 lm is a 3.4-fold difference — chosen from a dropdown, on one listing, with nothing indicating that the choice changes the light at all.
✅ Choose the fascia for the job: Slot or Wide where the light has to reach a floor or a tread; Narrow for a tighter wash; Ring or Halo where the fitting is a marker and the glow is the point. Tell us what you are lighting and we will pick.
3 W recessed LED step light, die-cast aluminium, round fascia, asymmetric optic. Cutout Ø35 mm. Six aperture designs — Narrow, Wide, Slot, Round Ring, Square Ring, Halo — with outputs from 7 lm to 31 lm depending on the fascia and setting. Switchable 2700 K / 4000 K / 6000 K. ⭐ CRI ≥90, 50,000 hrs, IP20, black or white. Fully dimmable with suitable dimmers — the driver must support it.
⛔ This is the 24 V DC version and requires a constant-voltage LED driver, not included. ⚠ Our record's 240 V AC entry is an error — a 240 V version exists separately and the two look identical, so tell us which you want. ⚠ The asymmetric optic has an orientation — it must be installed the right way up. ⛔ No warranty term is recorded — ask us.

24 V DC, and it needs a constant-voltage LED driver that is not included. Our product record says 240 V AC and that is simply wrong — we are flagging it because a mains entry on an extra-low-voltage fitting is the kind of error that reaches a wiring decision, and a step light is exactly the sort of thing wired into a run without re-reading the sheet. Domus does make a 240 V version of the AURA and the two look identical, so tell us which you want.
Substantially — by more than three times. At 4000 K the Slot gives 31 lumens and the Halo gives 9, with Wide at 30, Narrow at 15 and the two Rings at 11 to 12. It is chosen from a dropdown on one listing with nothing indicating the choice matters. Use Slot or Wide where the light has to reach a floor or a tread, Narrow for a tighter wash, and Ring or Halo where the fitting is a marker and the glow is the point.
Because of the angle and the distance. A step light grazes a stair tread, a stone floor or a timber walkway at a shallow angle from very close — and at that geometry a poor spectrum shows up as a flat grey wash rather than the material's real colour. CRI ≥90 is a step above the ≥80 most of this catalogue runs, and unusual at this wattage.
It throws the light forward and down rather than in a symmetric pool around the fitting — which is what puts light on the tread in front instead of the riser below, and why a step light works where an ordinary miniature downlight does not. It does mean the fitting has an orientation and must be installed the right way up; we will confirm that with the order.
No — the square-fascia listing carries five aperture designs and does not stock the Halo. If you want the Halo effect it is the round frame or nothing, which is worth knowing before a scheme is drawn around it. Both frames come in black or white.
Typically 200 to 300 mm above the tread, though it depends on the geometry. Too high and a step light becomes a glare source at eye level on a stair, which defeats the point. Tell us the stair or corridor arrangement and we will suggest a height and a spacing.
No — it is IP20, dry interiors only. That is worth checking against your drawing, because step lights are often specified for external stairs and this one is not rated for it. Ask us and we will point you at a weather-rated alternative.
