Domus AURA 240V SQR 3W LED TRIO IP20 Steplight

The Domus AURA is a 3 W recessed LED step light in black or white — a Ø35 mm cutout, CRI above 90, switchable 2700 K / 4000 K / 6000 K, dimmable, in five fascia designs.

⚠ These are markers. Be clear about that.

10 to 31 lumens is very little light — less even than the 18 lm step markers elsewhere in this catalogue at their dimmest.

• ✅ They show you where a step or a wall is, softly, at low level, without lighting the room.
• ⛔ They do not light a staircase. If you need to see the treads, this is not the fitting — ask us about recessed step lights with real output.
• ✅ Used in a run along a hallway or a stair, they are exactly what makes a house navigable at night without switching anything bright on.

Which fascia, and what each is for

• Slot — a horizontal bar of light. The brightest, and the most architectural: it reads as a line in the wall.
• Wide — a broad asymmetric wash down the wall. Almost as bright, softer edged. The most useful for a stair.
• Narrow — a tighter version of the same, for a more contained mark.
• Round Ring / Square Ring — a glowing outline rather than a wash. ✅ These are the decorative choices: at 10–12 lm they are almost purely visual, and a run of them reads as punctuation along a wall.

⚠ The datasheet also lists a sixth fascia, “Halo” (7–9 lm), which is not among the options here. Ask us if you want it — we will check with Domus whether it is still available.

✅ CRI above 90 — unexpected on a fitting this small

Most low-level markers do not quote colour rendering at all. Above 90 means that where the light lands — a timber tread, a stone wall, a carpet runner — the surface reads as its real colour rather than as a grey smudge. On a fitting whose whole job is grazing a nearby surface, that is more relevant than it first sounds.

⚠ Two voltages, and you must choose the right one

• 240 V — wires directly to mains, like any other fitting.
• 24 V DC — requires a constant-voltage LED driver, not supplied. ✅ Worth it on a long run: one driver feeds many fittings, and low-voltage cabling is simpler through a stair or a wall cavity.

Tell us which you need and how many fittings are on the run, and we will confirm the version and size the driver.

Where it works

• Stair walls, hallways and interior walkways — in a run.
• Low-level marking where a bright fitting would be intrusive.
• Home cinemas and bedroom passages — navigable without switching anything on.
• ⛔ Not for lighting stair treads — 10–31 lm is a marker.
• ⚠ IP20 — indoor only. Ask us for an outdoor equivalent.

Cutout Ø35 mm, die-cast aluminium, black or white, in Slot, Wide, Narrow, Round Ring or Square Ring fascia. 3 W LED giving 10–31 lm depending on fascia and colour; 2700 K / 4000 K / 6000 K switchable, set before installation; CRI ≥90, 50,000 hrs, dimmable with a suitable dimmer. Available in 240 V or 24 V DC (driver required, not supplied) — tell us which. IP20 — indoor and dry only. ⚠ Warranty not recorded — ask us.
