The Domus SWAP-STEP is an 8 W stepped-fascia LED downlight in satin chrome — 900 lumens, IP44, IK05, a forgiving Ø90–100 mm cutout, 40 mm deep, and a five-year residential warranty.

The stepped fascia — the middle option, and what it is for

• The lens sits recessed behind a stepped rim, part way between the flat SLEEK and the deeply recessed DEEP.
• ✅ Less glare than the SLEEK at a shallow viewing angle, ✅ shallower than the DEEP at 40 mm against 56.
• ✅ The step catches light and reads as a detail rather than a plain hole — which, in satin chrome, is the point.

✅ Satin chrome — the reason this listing exists

The other SWAP fittings are white and black. Satin chrome is a different proposition:

• It matches brushed tapware, brushed door hardware and stainless appliances — so in a kitchen or bathroom the downlights agree with the rest of the metalwork rather than sitting apart from it.
• ⚠ It does not disappear. Against a white ceiling a chrome ring is visible, switched off as well as on. That is a deliberate look, not a compromise — but if you want the fitting to vanish, the white SLEEK is the choice.

✅ The Ø90–100 mm cutout

Most downlights specify a single cutout. The SWAP range accepts anything from 90 to 100 mm, which is what makes it the retrofit range: replacing old halogen means inheriting whatever hole the last electrician cut, and 10 mm of tolerance usually means it just goes in without patching or re-cutting a ceiling.

The numbers, honestly

• 800 lm at 3000 K, 900 lm at 4000 K, 850 lm at 5700 K — comparable to a 50 W halogen, from 8 W.
• 113 lm/W, CRI ≥80, 60° beam, SMD, clear lens.
• ⚠ 35,000 hours, where mainstream Domus downlights claim 50,000 — the datasheet is candid that the range “incorporates cost saving materials”.
• IP44, usable in a bathroom outside the shower zone, subject to your electrician and AS/NZS 3000. IK05 impact rating.

Plan roughly 1.5 m spacing from a 2.4 m ceiling.
