The Domus SWAP-DEEP is an 8 W anti-glare deep-fascia downlight in white — 900 lumens, IP44, IK05, a forgiving Ø90–100 mm cutout, and a five-year residential warranty.

DEEP or SLEEK — the choice inside the SWAP range

Same output, same cutout, same warranty. The difference is the fascia, and it is a real one:

• ✅ DEEP for rooms people sit or lie in — bedrooms, living rooms, anywhere someone looks up. The recessed source means you see lit surfaces, not a bright dot.
• ✅ SLEEK for the shallowest ceilings — 21 mm less depth, and a face that nearly vanishes.
• ⚠ Do not mix them in one room. Two fascia depths on one ceiling is visible.

✅ The Ø90–100 mm cutout — why this range suits a retrofit

Most downlights specify one cutout. This accepts anything from 90 to 100 mm, and that 10 mm of tolerance is what makes replacing old halogen straightforward: you inherit whatever hole the last electrician cut, often ragged, and this usually just goes in without patching or re-cutting.

⚠ At 56 mm it needs a little more void than the SLEEK — check before committing if the ceiling is tight.

The numbers, honestly

• 800 lm at 3000 K, 900 lm at 4000 K, 850 lm at 5700 K — comparable to a 50 W halogen, from 8 W.
• 113 lm/W, CRI ≥80, 60° beam, SMD, clear lens.
• ⚠ 35,000 hours, where the mainstream Domus downlights claim 50,000. The datasheet is candid that the SWAP range “incorporates cost saving materials”. At ordinary domestic use that is still well over twenty years.
• IP44 — usable in a bathroom outside the shower zone, subject to your electrician and AS/NZS 3000.
• IK05 — a 0.7 joule impact rating, rarely quoted on a domestic downlight at all. Enough to survive ordinary knocks during installation and cleaning.

With a 60° beam, plan roughly 1.5 m spacing from a 2.4 m ceiling.

Where it works

• Bedrooms and living rooms — the deep fascia is why.
• Replacing old halogen — the forgiving cutout is why.
• Bathrooms outside the shower zone — IP44.
• ⚠ Needs 56 mm of void — use the SLEEK if the ceiling is tighter.
• ⚠ 35,000 hours, not 50,000 — worth knowing for commercial hours.
