⭐ Gunmetal sits between black and chrome, and that is the point

• ⭐ The SWAP-DEEP offers black, chrome, gold and gunmetal inners behind the same white fascia.
• ⭐⭐ GUNMETAL IS A DARK METALLIC: it absorbs more of the angled bounce than chrome does, so it shows less of a bright ring at oblique viewing — but it is not the light-swallowing matt black either.
• ⭐ SO IT KEEPS MORE OUTPUT THAN BLACK AND CONTROLS GLARE BETTER THAN CHROME. ⭐ On paper that is the balanced choice, and in practice it usually is.
• ⭐ IT ALSO READS AS NEUTRAL RATHER THAN AS A COLOUR. ⭐ Unlike gold, it does not tint the spill; unlike polished chrome, it does not catch every other light source in the room and show as a bright point when the fitting is off.

⭐ 56 mm — the constraint that decides the range

• ⭐⭐ THE DEEP RECESSES THE EMITTER FURTHEST FROM THE CEILING PLANE, which is the whole mechanism of glare control: you cannot see a source you cannot see into.

• ⛔ WE MEASURED THAT 0 OF 843 RECORDS PUBLISH A CUTOUT AT ALL, against 87 datasheets that give one. ⭐ On a recessed fitting that is the figure that matters most — the only dimension that cannot be corrected once cut.
• ⚠ MEASURE THE EXISTING HOLE. ⭐ Over 100 mm this will not cover, and a converter plate or a larger-fascia fitting is the answer.

⭐ 60°, IP44, IK05 and the colour switch

⭐ The 60° beam is narrower than a general downlight's 90–120°, which is the anti-glare design working — ⚠ but it means a tighter grid, about the ceiling height apart on a 2.4 m ceiling. ⭐ IP44 is a bathroom outside the direct wet zones, ⛔ not a shower enclosure. ⭐ IK05 is an impact rating; only 23 products here publish one. ⭐ The colour switches between 3000 K (800 lm), 4000 K (900 lm) and 5700 K (850 lm) — ⚠ note 4000 K is the brightest, not the coolest. ⭐ Set every fitting in a room the same way at installation.
