The Domus PICO-7 is a 7 W miniature deep-set downlight in black or satin white — a Ø50 mm cutout, 470 lumens, a 24° beam, IP54, in TRIO or DALI.

✅ The black model gives about 10% less light than the white one — the datasheet says so, and almost no manufacturer publishes this. A black reflector absorbs light a white one bounces. 470 lm from the white; roughly 425 from the black. Choose the finish for the look, but do the arithmetic on the figure that matches what you are buying.

  • ✅ More than double the light for 15 mm more hole. If the 3 W was not enough for a display or a shelf, this is the answer.
  • ✅ Deep set rather than tilt — the source is recessed, so this one is the anti-glare member of the family. It aims straight down and does not swivel.
  • ✅ IP54 rather than IP40 — dust protection, which matters in a joinery void or a kitchen where a small aperture collects grease and dust.

⚠ Our record lists this as a tilt fitting. The datasheet describes the 7 W as the deep-set frame; it is the 3 W that comes fixed or tilt. If you need to aim it, ask us before ordering.

The 24° beam — still the tightest here

Both PICOs share it, and at 470 lm it becomes genuinely useful:

  • Display and cabinet lighting — a contained pool on the object with very little spill onto the shelf around it. That contrast is what makes a display read.
  • Highlighting a picture, a sculpture, a bottle, a bench section.
  • Tight-line wall washing — place them close to the wall so the narrow cones overlap into a band.
  • ⚠ Still not room lighting. 470 lm at 24° is an accent; for general light, the BOOST or DECO.
⚠ IP54, from the underside

The datasheet qualifies it: the IP54 applies from the underside once the fitting is installed into the ceiling. The face is protected; the back is not.

  • ✅ Fine in a kitchen, a joinery void, a bathroom outside the shower zone.
  • ⛔ Not where water can reach behind it.
The numbers
  • 390 lm at 3000 K, 470 lm at 4000 K, 460 lm at 5700 K (white model; black about 10% lower).
  • 67 lm/W, CRI ≥80, COB, 50,000 hours.
  • ⚠ The top setting is 5700 K, colder than the 5000 K many expect, set before installation.
  • Fully dimmable with a suitable dimmer, supplied with a micro-sized LED driver and flex-and-plug — ✅ which matters, because a full-size driver defeats the point of a small fitting when you are working inside joinery.
TRIO or DALI

TRIO for a house, dimming from a suitable dimmer. DALI for addressable control on a bus — ⛔ it will not dim at all without a DALI system.

Questions
Is the black one dimmer than the white?

Yes, by about 10% — the datasheet says so, and almost no manufacturer publishes it. A black reflector absorbs light a white one bounces, so the white gives 470 lumens at 4000 K and the black roughly 425. Choose the finish for the look, but use the figure that matches what you are buying.

PICO-3 or PICO-7?

The 7 gives more than double the light — 470 lumens against 210 — for 15 mm more hole, Ø50 against Ø35. It is also the deep-set, anti-glare member of the family, and IP54 rather than IP40. If the 3 W was not enough for a display or a shelf, this is the answer.

Does it tilt?

The datasheet describes the 7 W as the deep-set frame — it is the 3 W that comes fixed or tilt. Our record lists this one as a tilt fitting, which looks like a field copied from the sibling. If you need to aim it, ask us before ordering.

Can I light a room with them?

No. 470 lumens through a 24° beam is accent lighting — a contained pool on the object with very little spill, which is what makes a display read. For general light use the BOOST or DECO.

Can it go in a kitchen or bathroom?

The IP54 applies from the underside once the fitting is installed into the ceiling — the face is protected, the back is not. That is fine in a kitchen, a joinery void or a bathroom outside the shower zone, and not where water can reach behind it. The dust protection matters in a kitchen, where a small aperture collects grease.

Where does the driver go?

It comes with a micro-sized LED driver, which matters — a full-size driver defeats the point of a small fitting when you are working inside joinery. You still need somewhere for it to sit, so plan that with your cabinetmaker.

TRIO or DALI?

TRIO for a house — it dims from a suitable dimmer. DALI is addressable control on a two-wire bus and will not dim at all without a DALI system and controller.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Our Rights

We reserve the right to refuse a return in cases where we cannot be reasonably satisfied that you purchased the product from us or where we are not responsible for the damage in accordance with our Faults & damages policy.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.

  • Restocking fee: 20% will apply unless otherwise stated, or unless another order of equal or greater value is placed in lieu of this re-stocking fee.
