The Domus PICO-3 is a 3 W miniature downlight in black or satin white — a Ø35 mm cutout, a 24° beam, switchable 3000 K / 4000 K / 5700 K, dimmable, in TRIO or DALI.

✅ The black model gives about 10% less light than the white one. The datasheet says so plainly, and almost no manufacturer publishes this.

It is real physics — a black reflector absorbs light a white one bounces — and it matters if you are counting lumens across a run of cabinet or display lighting, or mixing the two finishes in one space. 210 lm from the white; roughly 190 from the black. Choose the finish for the look, but do the arithmetic on the white figure only if you are buying white.

A Ø35 mm cutout — this is a different class of fitting

Every other downlight in this catalogue takes a hole between 75 and 170 mm. The PICO takes 35 mm, and that opens up places a normal downlight cannot go:

  • Inside cabinetry — the underside of an overhead cupboard, a display shelf, a wardrobe, a bookcase.
  • Joinery and bulkheads, where a 90 mm hole would weaken or dominate the panel.
  • Stair risers, plinths and reveals.
  • Ceilings where a run of small apertures is wanted instead of a row of large ones.
The 24° beam — what it is for

This is a narrow, deliberate beam — the tightest in this catalogue:

  • Display and cabinet lighting — a contained pool on the object, and very little spill onto the shelf around it. That contrast is what makes a display read.
  • Wall washing in a tight line — the datasheet names this use, and with a 24° beam it means placing them close to the wall so the cones overlap into a continuous band.
  • Highlighting a single object, a picture, a bottle, a sculpture.
  • ⚠ It is not room lighting. 210 lm at 24° will not light a space; you would need a great many. For general light, use the BOOST or DECO.
Fixed or tilt, and the 7 W sibling
  • 3 W fixed — straight down, nothing to knock out of alignment. Right inside cabinetry.
  • 3 W tilt — aimable, for display and wall washing.
  • 7 W deep-set — a larger sibling for the same family of uses when 210 lm is not enough. Ask us.

  • 180 lm at 3000 K, 210 lm at 4000 K and 5700 K (white model; black about 10% lower).
  • 70 lm/W, CRI ≥80, COB, 50,000 hours.
  • IP40 — dust protected, no water rating. Indoor and dry.
  • Fully dimmable with a suitable dimmer, supplied with a micro-sized LED driver and flex-and-plug.

✅ The micro driver is the practical detail — a full-size driver defeats the point of a 35 mm fitting when you are working inside a cabinet. ⚠ You still need somewhere for it to sit; plan that with your cabinetmaker.

Questions
Is the black one really dimmer than the white?

Yes, by about 10% — the datasheet says so, and almost no manufacturer publishes this. A black reflector absorbs light a white one bounces. So the white gives 210 lumens at 4000 K and the black roughly 190. Choose the finish for the look, but if you are counting lumens across a run, or mixing finishes in one space, use the right figure.

What is a 35mm downlight for?

Places a normal downlight cannot go. Inside cabinetry — the underside of an overhead cupboard, a display shelf, a wardrobe. Joinery and bulkheads where a 90 mm hole would weaken or dominate the panel. Stair risers, plinths and reveals. Or ceilings where you want a run of small apertures rather than a row of large ones.

Can I light a room with them?

No. 210 lumens through a 24° beam is display and accent lighting — you would need a great many to light a space, and it would still look wrong. For general light use the BOOST or DECO.

How do I use the 24° beam for wall washing?

Place them close to the wall so the narrow cones overlap into a continuous band. The datasheet names wall washing as an intended use, but with a beam this tight the spacing and the setback are what make it work.

Fixed or tilt?

Fixed for inside cabinetry, where nothing should be knocked out of alignment. Tilt for display and wall washing, where aiming is the point. There is also a 7 W deep-set sibling for the same kinds of use when 210 lumens is not enough — ask us.

Where does the driver go?

It comes with a micro-sized LED driver, which is the practical detail — a full-size driver defeats the point of a 35 mm fitting when you are working inside a cabinet. You still need somewhere for it to sit, so plan that with your cabinetmaker.

Can it go in a bathroom?

No — IP40 is dust protected with no water rating, so indoor and dry only.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
