The Domus DEEP-13 DALI is a 13 W deep-set tiltable downlight with DALI addressable dimming, in black or white — COB with a reflector, a 36° beam, switchable 3000 K / 4000 K / 5000 K, and a Ø90 mm cutout.

✅ DALI — what it is for, and when not to buy it

DALI is addressable digital control. Each fitting has its own address on a two-wire control bus, so a controller can talk to it individually.

• ✅ Per-fitting control and scenes. One row dimmed, another off, a third at full — from a single controller, without separate circuits.
• ✅ Re-zoning without rewiring. In an office or retail fitout, changing which fittings group together is a configuration change rather than an electrical one. That is the real value.
• ✅ Fault reporting — a DALI system can tell you which fitting has failed.
• ⛔ It needs a DALI bus and a controller. Without them, a DALI fitting will not dim at all — it is not a fancier version of a normal dimmable downlight.
• ⛔ Do not buy DALI for a house unless you already have the system. Ask us for the TRIO version, which dims from an ordinary suitable dimmer.

What “deep set” buys you

• The LED sits recessed well back behind a reflector, so from a normal standing or sitting position you do not see the source — you see a lit surface.
• That kills the glare that makes cheap downlights uncomfortable in a room people actually use.
• The cost is a narrow 36° beam, against 90° on a flat-faced downlight. It is focused, not a wash.

✅ So use more of them, closer together — roughly 1.2–1.5 m apart from a 2.4 m ceiling, not the 2 m you would use with a wide-beam fitting.

And it tilts — which with DALI is a good combination

• Wall washing — a row set back and angled at a wall, and with DALI that row can be dimmed as a group independently of the rest.
• Art, joinery and display — a focused beam on the thing you want seen, at a level you can set per scene.
• ⚠ Aim them at night before the ceiling is patched. Tiltable downlights are routinely installed and never adjusted.

The numbers

• 987 lm at 3000 K, 1,053 lm at 4000 K, 1,120 lm at 5000 K — output rises as the colour gets cooler.
• 81 lm/W at 4000 K, CRI ≥80, 50,000 hours.
• Cutout Ø90 mm, face Ø100 mm, height 94 mm — that height is the deep-set housing, and it needs the room above.
• The colour is set on a dip switch at the back, before installation.

Where it works

• Offices, retail and hospitality with a DALI control system.
• Wall washing and accenting, in dimmable groups.
• Spaces that get re-zoned — DALI makes that a configuration change.
• ⛔ Not without a DALI bus and controller — ask us for the TRIO version.
• ⛔ IP40 — indoor and dry only, despite the title.
