The Domus DECO-20 is a 20 W commercial LED downlight with a deep-set anti-glare frame, an ultra-slim 43 mm housing and a 90° spread, switchable 3000 K / 4000 K / 5700 K, in TRIO, DALI or 0–10 V, black or white.

⛔ It needs a Ø160–170 mm hole. That is not a normal downlight cutout.

Most downlights in this catalogue take Ø90 mm. This one takes a hole nearly twice the diameter — and the fitting is Ø190 mm across the visible face.

✅ The upside is that only 43 mm of it sits above the ceiling, so it goes where a deep fitting cannot — a shallow void, a bulkhead, a floor above. ⛔ But it cannot replace a Ø90 mm downlight without cutting the ceiling open, and that is a decision to make before anyone starts, not after.

It is one of the three variants, not the product. ⚠ The 0–10 V variant also does not appear in the datasheet's own item table, so its figures are not independently confirmed here. ⚠ Two ratings whose conditions matter
  • IP44 — “from the underside of the downlight once installed”. That is the datasheet's own wording, and our record shows a bare IP44. ✅ It means the fitting is protected from the room side, so a bathroom ceiling outside the shower zone is fine. It does not mean the back of the fitting is sealed in the void, and it does not apply before installation.
  • Dimming — “tested on the Domus dimmer series; may work on others but not tested”. ⚠ That is materially weaker than “dimmable”. Tell us your dimmer and we will tell you whether it is a tested pairing before you buy both.

The deep-set frame

The LED sits back behind the aperture, which is what makes a 1,800-lumen fitting usable in a room people work in.

  • ✅ At this output the anti-glare frame is not a refinement, it is a requirement. A flat 20 W downlight at 90° would be uncomfortable to sit under.
  • ✅ Paired with the slim housing it suits offices, retail and apartment bulkheads where ceiling space is tight and glare complaints are real.

Questions
What size hole does it need?

Ø160–170 mm, which is not a normal downlight cutout — most fittings in this catalogue take Ø90 mm. The visible face is Ø190 mm. It cannot replace a standard downlight without cutting the ceiling open, so this is a decision to make before anyone starts rather than after the first hole is enlarged.

Why choose it if the hole is that big?

Because only 43 mm of it sits above the ceiling. That ultra-slim housing goes where a deep fitting cannot — a shallow void, a bulkhead, an apartment with a floor slab close above. Combined with 1,800 lumens at a 90° spread, it covers a commercial floor with fewer fittings than a standard downlight would.

What is the difference between TRIO, DALI and 0–10 V?

How it is controlled. TRIO sets the colour with a dip switch at the back and dims from an ordinary wall dimmer — the choice for homes and small commercial. DALI is addressable digital control for a building with a DALI system, where each fitting has an address. 0–10 V is an analogue dimming control line used in some commercial systems. Our record types the whole product as "Dali", which is one variant of three, so tell us your control system and we will confirm the right one.

Can it go in a bathroom?

Outside the shower zone, yes. The datasheet's wording is precise and worth quoting: IP44 "from the underside of the downlight once installed into the ceiling". That means it is protected from the room side, not that the back of the fitting is sealed in the void, and the rating does not apply before it is installed. Subject to your electrician and the zones in AS/NZS 3000.

Which dimmer works with it?

The Domus dimmer series is the tested pairing. The datasheet says it "may work on others but has not been tested", which is materially weaker than simply calling it dimmable — and our record shows only the word "dimmable". Tell us the dimmer you intend to use and we will tell you whether it is tested before you buy both.

Is it too bright for a home?

At 1,800 lumens with a 90° spread it is a commercial fitting, and in a normal room you would use fewer of them than you would standard downlights. The deep-set anti-glare frame is what makes that output tolerable to sit under — a flat 20 W downlight at this spread would be uncomfortable. Tell us the room and we will work out the count.

How deep does the ceiling void need to be?

Only 43 mm behind the face, which is one of its main advantages. The constraint here is the cutout diameter rather than the depth — Ø160–170 mm needs clearance between joists or battens, so check the framing as well as the void.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.
