The Domus SUNSOLAR-1 is a solar-powered post-top area light — 20 W LED giving 2,100 lumens, IP65, Ø400 mm, with a 38.4 Wh battery and over 32 hours of run time. No mains cable required.
⭐ This is the only fitting in this catalogue that needs no electrical supply at all — and that is not a minor feature, it is the entire proposition.
The cost of an outdoor light is rarely the fitting. It is the trenching, the cable, the conduit and the electrician. Domus put it plainly: this is for “areas where it is too difficult or expensive to run mains cables” — farms, parklands, long driveways, paddock gates and large back yards.
✅ A 100-metre cable run costs far more than this light. If the position is remote, this is not a compromise on a mains fitting; it is the only sensible answer.
Most solar lights disappoint because the battery is too small. This one is specified properly:
⚠ It needs sun to sit in. Under a tree canopy, on a south-facing wall or in the shadow of a building, the charge time lengthens and the run time falls. Site it in the open.
3000 K warm or 4000 K neutral, switchable on the fitting — and both give the same 2,100 lumens, so the choice costs nothing in output.
⚠ What to think about before specifying it.
Ø400 mm, 120 mm high, CRI ≥80, 50,000 hours on the LED. Warranty 3 years.
Solar-powered post-top area light, Ø400 mm, 120 mm high, head only, to suit a 60 mm post. 20 W LED giving 2,100 lm at 3000 K or 4000 K, switchable; CRI ≥80, 360° output, 50,000 hrs, not dimmable. Battery 6 × 32700, 6.4 V, 6,000 mAh (38.4 Wh); charge 4–6 hrs; run time over 32 hrs. Automatic dusk to dawn. ABS polymer and polycarbonate opal diffuser, V0 fire-rated, anti-UV. IP65. ⚠ No mains supply required — but it must be sited in the sun. Warranty 3 years.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
None. It is solar powered with its own battery, and it turns itself on at dusk and off at dawn — no switch, no timer, no circuit. That matters because the cost of an outdoor light is rarely the fitting: it is the trenching, cable, conduit and electrician. A 100-metre cable run costs far more than this light, so for a remote position this is not a compromise on a mains fitting, it is the only sensible answer.
Over 32 hours from a 4 to 6 hour charge, on a 38.4 Wh battery — six 32700 cells at 6.4 V and 6,000 mAh. That is more than two full winter nights on a single charge, which is the figure that matters: the risk with solar is a run of overcast days, not a single one.
Then it will not work properly, and that is the one requirement it cannot do without. Under a tree canopy, on a south-facing wall or in a building’s shadow, the charge time lengthens and the run time falls. Site it in the open.
2,100 lumens at 20 W, which is comparable to a mains bollard rather than a token glow. Most solar lights disappoint because the battery is too small; this one is specified properly.
No — head only, to suit a 60 mm post. We stock the 60 mm aluminium post in 1, 1.5, 2 and 2.5-metre lengths. At 2 or 2.5 metres it becomes a genuine area light, and since there is no cable to run up the post, the taller options cost nothing extra in installation.
3000 K warm for a garden, driveway or anywhere near a house; 4000 K neutral for a farm gate, yard or parkland path where clarity matters more than warmth. Both give the same 2,100 lumens, so the choice costs nothing in output, and it is switchable on the fitting.
Batteries are consumable — every rechargeable pack loses capacity over years, so expect the run time to shorten eventually. Ask us about replacement before you install a run of them; it is the part that determines the fitting’s real service life.
