Domus BL-400 - Cylindrical Bollard Head Garden Light Black - Clear/Frost

The Domus BL-400 is a cylindrical bollard head in black aluminium — Ø150 mm, 250 mm tall, IP54, to suit a 76 mm post, taking one E27 globe to 25 W, with clear or frost glass.

Clear or frost — this is the real decision, and it changes everything

Both are the same fitting; the glass makes them behave completely differently:

• Clear glass — maximum light out, a brighter pool, and the globe is visible. That is fine if the bollard sits below the sight line in planting, and it is the choice when you actually need the light. ⚠ Use an opal globe, never a clear filament, or you get a bright point you can see from across the garden.
• Frost glass — the cylinder glows evenly and the globe disappears. Softer, and no glare from any angle, at the cost of some output. This is the choice beside a path people walk, near a window, or wherever the bollard is in view.

✅ Frost is the safer default for a domestic garden; clear is right where the priority is seeing the ground.

Cylindrical, and how it differs from the rest of the BL range

Domus makes four heads for the same 76 mm post, and they are not interchangeable in look:

• BL-400 — a plain cylinder. The most contemporary and the most neutral. In a modern garden it reads as a detail rather than a garden ornament.
• BL-300 — a conical cone. Contemporary but tapered.
• BL-200 — conical with an opal acrylic diffuser. Softest light of the four.
• BL-100 — three stepped tiers. Traditional.

✅ At Ø150 mm the BL-400 is also the slimmest head in the range — the BL-100 and BL-200 are Ø160 mm — which suits a narrow path edge.

IP54, and the globe

Dust protected and shielded against splashing water. In a garden, dust is the rating that matters: fine dust and insects inside the glass are what dim a bollard over years, and on frost glass that shows sooner because the whole surface is working.

• 25 W maximum, and a 9 W LED at around 800 lm is the sensible fit.
• Warm 2700–3000 K, always, in a garden.
• ⚠ Rated for enclosed fixtures and outdoor use, or it will cook inside a sealed head.
• Not supplied.

⚠ Not for pooling water or submersion — keep it off the low point of a driveway.

• Modern gardens and contemporary entries — a plain cylinder.
• Narrow path edges — Ø150 mm, the slimmest in the range.
• Beside seating or windows — with frost glass, no glare.
• ⚠ Head only; you need a post, a base and a globe.
