Product Description
xThe Gleam is the deeper, brighter answer to the same Ø90 mm cut-out that the shallow polycarbonate downlights use. A polycarbonate face over an aluminium body, Ø100 mm across and 60 mm deep, recessed so that the source sits back from the ceiling plane rather than flush with it. This listing carries both finishes — HV5528T-WHT and HV5528T-BLK — at the same output and the same price.
What the recess depth actually does
Setting the LED back inside the housing is the whole point of the fitting. It cuts the angle at which the source is directly visible, so a room of them reads as pools of light rather than as a row of bright dots, and it is why the Gleam is specified in living rooms and hospitality where the shallow version would be glary. The trade is depth: at 60 mm it needs more clearance above the ceiling than a 48 mm fitting, and 70 mm if the insulation cap is fitted.
Output and colour
A switch on the fitting selects 3000K, 4000K or 5500K, and Havit measures 680 lm, 795 lm and 745 lm in that order. The peak is in the middle — 4000K is the brightest of the three, and the coolest setting gives about 6% less light rather than more. Choose the colour for the room, not for output. The beam is 90°, wide enough for even ceiling coverage without being a floodlight, and colour rendering is CRI >80. The face is fixed; there is no tilt.
Insulation — the qualification that matters
The Gleam is IC-4 rated only when the HV5528-IC4CAP is fitted, and even then Havit is explicit that the rating covers the fitting only — the driver may not be installed under insulation and must sit above it so it can ventilate. Havit also states that the fixture must not be installed with loose-fill insulation such as macerated paper or wool. Read that as three separate requirements rather than one, because the most common failure in this class of downlight is a driver quietly buried in batts.
Wiring, rating and warranty
It runs on 240 V from a separate driver and is supplied with a flex and plug, so it lands on a plug base fixed in the ceiling — quick to install and quick to swap. It is Protection Class 2, so no earth is required at the fitting. IP54 applies to the front of the fitting only: the visible face resists dust and splashing, the plenum side does not, so it suits a bathroom or laundry ceiling but not an exposed one. It is Triac dimmable, IK08, rated >30,000 hrs, with a 3 year replacement warranty. Havit also offers a DALI-dimmable version of this fitting through its Commercial range if the project is on a control system. Lights For You lists the 8 W shallow fitting on the same Ø90 mm cut-out for ceilings without the depth for this one.
Questions
What cut-out does it need, and how deep?
Ø90 mm. The body is Ø100 mm across and 60 mm deep, rising to 70 mm with the HV5528-IC4CAP insulation cap fitted, so check the clearance above the ceiling before ordering.
Which colour temperature is brightest?
4000K, at 795 lm. 3000K gives 680 lm and 5500K gives 745 lm — so the coolest setting is not the brightest, which catches people out on this fitting.
Can it be covered by insulation?
Only with the HV5528-IC4CAP fitted, and only the fitting itself. Havit is explicit that the driver cannot be installed under insulation and must sit above it to ventilate, and that loose-fill insulation such as macerated paper or wool must not be used with this fixture at all.
Does it need an earth?
No. It is Protection Class 2 and is supplied with a flex and plug that lands on a plug base in the ceiling.
Is it suitable for a bathroom?
The IP54 rating covers the front of the fitting only, so it suits a bathroom or laundry ceiling outside the immediate shower zone. It is not rated for an exposed outdoor ceiling.
Can it be dimmed?
Yes — Havit lists it as Triac dimmable, using a compatible dimmer on the circuit. A DALI-dimmable version of the same fitting is offered through Havit’s Commercial range for projects on a control system.
Does the head tilt or adjust?
No. Havit lists tilt as none. The recess depth and the 90° beam do the work instead, which is what makes it a general-purpose ceiling light rather than an accent fitting.

Warranties, Return & Refund Policy

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.
Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.
Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.
Damaged or Missing Items
Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.
If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.
Returns
Change of Mind Returns
- Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
- The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Cancellations
