Tivah Solid Brass TRI Colour

This is the solid brass Tivah in its single adjustable form: one head on a matching brass backing plate, with 90° of tilt and 270° of swivel, and a high-output reflector behind the lamp to push the light forward rather than let it spill. Solid brass is the reason to choose it over the aluminium and stainless versions of the same fitting — it is the finish that weathers rather than fails, developing its own patina outdoors instead of chalking or pitting, which is why it is the version specified for coastal and heritage work.

The choice to make

Three part numbers sit on this listing and they are not interchangeable, because each one is a different electrical proposition:

• HV1255T — 240 V GU10, supplied with a switchable globe that steps through 3 W, 5 W and 7 W. It is the only one of the three that is Triac dimmable.
• HV1257GU10T — 240 V GU10 at a fixed 5 W, giving 270 lm at 3000K, 285 lm at 4000K and 300 lm at 5500K.
• HV1257MR16T — 12 V DC MR16 at 5 W, the same output figures, and it requires a separate 12 V DC LED driver.

Decide the voltage first and the wattage second. If there is no low-voltage supply at the wall, one of the two 240 V versions is the simpler job.

Where it works

• On a brick or rendered pillar either side of a driveway entrance.
• Fixed to an eave and aimed down a wall, since the sheet permits ceiling as well as wall mounting.
• Coastal and near-coastal facades where an aluminium fitting would not last.
• Heritage and period exteriors, where the brass is the point rather than a compromise.

Specifying it

The fitting is IP65, so unlike most wall lights it can go on an exposed wall in the weather. The two 240 V versions are protection class 1 and require an earth at the fitting. The MR16 version is class 3 low voltage: it must be run from a suitable 12 V DC LED driver, never wired to mains, and Havit voids the warranty if the fitting sits more than 25 m from its driver or if the supply drifts more than 5% from nominal. Where several fittings share a driver, wire them in parallel and size the driver for the whole load, not for one head.

The globes are replaceable, and the maximum the socket will accept differs by version: 35 W on the 240 V GU10, 20 W on the 12 V MR16. Do not exceed either. A GU10 globe will not physically fit an MR16 socket or the reverse, so order the replacement that matches the part number you bought. All three versions carry Havit's 3-year replacement warranty.
