Maxi 600 Black Louvred LED

Six hundred millimetres is roughly where a seated person's eye is, and that is the whole argument for the louvred Maxi. A plain 600 mm bollard beside a bench or a dining table puts a bright frosted diffuser directly in your eyeline. This version keeps the same output and hides the source behind horizontal blades, so what you see is lit paving and planting rather than the fitting.

Clear lens, louvred face — and why that is not a downgrade

The plain Maxi 600 uses a frosted diffuser; this one uses a clear one with louvres. It sounds backwards until you think about what each is for. Frosting softens a source by scattering light everywhere, including at you. Louvres cut the sideways and upward component mechanically, so the lens can stay clear and the light that does escape is aimed down. The measured output is identical to the plain model — 700 lm, 720 lm and 740 lm at 3000K, 4000K and 5500K on the 240 V globe, and 270 lm, 285 lm and 300 lm on the 12 V one — it simply goes to the ground.

⚠ It is IP54, not IP65

Worth being direct about, because outdoor bollards are widely assumed to be IP65. Havit rates this fitting IP54 on its dated data sheet, on both installation instructions and on its own product page. That is protection against splashing water from any direction — rain, sprinklers, a hose going past — and not against jets or standing water. Which is why the base plate must be fixed to concrete or a concrete pad, above ground level, with every hole including the cable entry siliconed, and silicone run around the fitting at ground level. Havit voids the warranty if that is not done.

The rest of it

• 240 V AC is Class I with a 9 W E27 globe and an earth. 12 V DC is Class III with a 5 W MR16 globe and a suitable 12 V DC LED driver — no direct connection to 240 V, and no more than 25 m from the driver with the supply within ±5%.
• Maximum globe wattage 15 W, LED only. The optional HV9507 tri-colour MR16 is the 12 V DC replacement, and its 60° beam against the supplied 120° shows how much the globe rather than the fitting decides the spread.
• Ø102 mm body on a Ø98 mm base plate, IK08, CRI >80, >30,000 hrs, parallel wiring, not dimmable with the globes supplied.
• 316 stainless steel under the black coating, so regular cleaning is required and tea staining is excluded from the warranty. 3 Years Replacement.
