A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
This is the Mini with louvres, and the change is not decorative. Havit calls it the Mini Louvre, and the give-away is in the specification: the plain Mini uses a frosted diffuser, and this one uses a clear one with louvres in front of it. Those are two different ways of solving the same problem, and they suit different positions.
A frosted diffuser scatters light in every direction, including towards your eyes — the fitting itself becomes a soft bright object. Louvres do the opposite: the lens stays clear so the light is not dulled, and horizontal blades cut the upward and sideways component so what escapes is aimed down at the ground. Stand beside a louvred bollard and you see lit paving; stand beside a frosted one and you see the bollard. That makes this the version to use beside outdoor seating, along a deck edge you look across, or anywhere the run sits in a sightline from indoors — and the plain Mini the one to use where you actually want the fitting to read as a point of light.
The 240 V AC model takes a 9 W E27 tri-colour globe for 700 lm at 3000K, 720 lm at 4000K and 740 lm at 5500K, wired to the circuit with an earth. The 12 V DC model takes a 5 W MR16 globe for 270 lm, 285 lm and 300 lm and must run from a suitable 12 V DC LED driver; do not connect it directly to 240 V. Havit limits that low-voltage run to 25 m from the driver with the supply within ±5%, and voids the warranty outside it.
If you are mixing plain and louvred fittings on one job, Lights For You will help you decide which positions get which — it is usually about where people sit.
They block the upward and sideways light so the output is aimed down at the ground. That is why this version uses a clear diffuser rather than the frosted one on the plain Mini — the louvres control the glare, so the lens does not have to. You see the lit surface instead of the fitting.
Louvred where people sit, walk towards the fitting, or look across the run from inside the house. Plain where you want the bollard itself to read as a point of light in the landscape. They are otherwise the same fitting with the same output and the same ratings.
No. Both give 700, 720 and 740 lumens on the 240 V globe and 270, 285 and 300 on the 12 V one. The louvred version puts more of that light on the ground and less in your eyes, so it can look softer without actually producing less.
It is a marker rather than a path light. At that height the beam lands close in, giving a pool at each fitting. For genuine path lighting the Maxi 600 louvred model is the same design at 600 mm.
Only if that circuit is genuinely 12 V DC and the fitting will sit within 25 metres of the driver, with the supply within ±5%. Havit treats both as warranty conditions. Check what your driver actually outputs before ordering, because a lot of garden runs are not what people assume.
By a switch on the side of the globe. The cover twists off, the globe comes out, you move the switch and reassemble. It arrives set to 3000K, and it can be changed later.
Yes, for the standard installation — the base plate has to be fixed to concrete or a concrete pad, above ground level, with the cable entry siliconed. That is a warranty requirement rather than a suggestion. The optional HV1607 spike is the alternative if you want it in soil.
