A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
One fitting, two part numbers, and the choice between them is bigger than the voltage label. The Maxi 600 in natural 316 stainless is sold as a 240 V AC model and a 12 V DC model, and they differ in brightness, in protection class, in what your electrician has to run and in how far the fitting can sit from its supply. Worth ten minutes before you order a run of them.
It takes a 9 W E27 tri-colour globe and produces 700 lm at 3000K, 720 lm at 4000K and 740 lm at 5500K. It is Class I, so it wires to the circuit with an earth conductor and needs no driver at all. If the bollards are going in as part of a mains installation — a new path, a driveway edge, anywhere a cable is already being run — this is the simpler of the two and roughly two and a half times the light.
It takes a 5 W MR16 globe for 270 lm, 285 lm and 300 lm, and it is Class III — no earth required, because a suitable 12 V DC LED driver provides the isolation. Never connect it directly to 240 V. Two constraints come with it: no more than 25 m from the driver, with the supply within ±5%, which Havit states is a warranty condition rather than guidance, and a 15 W maximum on any replacement globe, LED only. Havit's HV9507 tri-colour MR16 is the listed 12 V DC alternative, and at 60° against the supplied globe's 120° it is a useful reminder that the beam belongs to the globe rather than to the fitting.
Send Lights For You the site plan and we will tell you which supply makes the job simpler.
The 240 V model if a mains cable is already going in — it is brighter, needs no driver and simply wires to the circuit with an earth. The 12 V model if you are extending an existing low-voltage garden run or want the lower-risk cable in a bed people dig in. Both are the same fitting and the same finish.
Substantial. The 240 V model gives 700, 720 and 740 lumens from its 9 W E27 globe; the 12 V model gives 270, 285 and 300 from its 5 W MR16. That is roughly two and a half times, so do not treat the two part numbers as interchangeable on a mixed run.
No. It is Class III, so the isolation comes from the 12 V DC LED driver rather than from an earth conductor. The 240 V version is Class I and does need one. That difference is on Havit’s data sheet and is one of the real reasons to choose one over the other.
No more than 25 metres, with the voltage at the fitting within ±5% of what it needs. Havit states plainly that outside this allowance the warranty is void, so the driver position has to be planned before the cable run, not after.
Up to 15 watts, LED only — that is Havit’s stated ceiling for this fitting. Its own HV9507 tri-colour MR16 is offered up to 7 W for the 12 V model, and it has a 60° beam against the supplied globe’s 120°, which will noticeably tighten the pool of light.
A clean every six months, and more often in coastal environments, using Havit’s HV9971 maintenance kit. It is not optional in warranty terms: tea staining is specifically excluded from cover, and it is the thing regular cleaning prevents.
For rain, sprinklers and a passing hose, yes. It is not rated for jets or for standing water, which is why the base plate has to be on concrete above ground level with the cable entry sealed. Avoid any position that holds water after heavy rain.
