CARTER-TL - Paper Rope Table Lamp

The Domus CARTER-TL is a paper rope table lamp on matt black metalware, with a Ø290 mm shade, 478 mm tall, taking a single E27 lamp, in black or natural.

Where a table lamp of this size belongs

• 478 mm tall with a Ø290 mm shade. ✅ That is a proper table lamp rather than a bedside one — it wants a console, a sideboard or a generous side table.
• ✅ The bottom of the shade sits at roughly seated eye level on a low table, which is what you want: you see the lit shade and not the globe.
• ⚠ On a tall bedside table it will be above eye level and you will look up into it. The CARTER-DL desk lamp is 555 mm on a smaller Ø170 mm shade and directs light differently — ask us which suits the position.
• ⚠ Our record holds three different horizontal figures — a diameter of 290 mm, a width of 320 mm and a length of 351 mm. The shade is Ø290 mm; if the space is tight, ask us and we will measure one.

What paper rope does to the light

• A woven natural fibre, so light comes through warm and slightly textured rather than as a hard edge.
• ✅ Down through the open bottom, softly through the weave. That combination lights a surface without leaving the rest of the room dark.
• ✅ Natural reads as light oak and warm neutrals; black reads graphic and gives a much more contained pool of light.
• ⚠ It is a fibre shade. It will hold dust — a vacuum brush attachment, not a wet cloth — and it is not for a kitchen bench near a cooktop.

Choosing the globe

• For reading beside a chair: a 9–11 W LED E27 around 800–1,000 lm at 3000 K, opal.
• For atmosphere: a filament LED at 1800–2200 K. It will not light a book, and in a lamp with an open-bottomed shade that is often the point.
• ⚠ Opal, not clear. The bottom of the shade is open and people sit beside it — a clear filament globe puts a bright point in the eyeline.
• Dimming depends on the globe, not the lamp. A dimmable E27 plus a plug-in or inline dimmer works; a non-dimmable globe will not dim whatever you fit.
