The Walsh EX2 is a twin up-and-down exterior wall light in solid brass or 316 stainless steel — two GU10 globes to 6 W each, not supplied, with a honeycomb anti-glare diffuser, at IP65.
It is 316 stainless steel or solid brass — and our record said it was made of glass. That is not a detail. 316 is marine-grade stainless, the specification used for boat fittings and coastal architecture, and it is substantially more corrosion-resistant than the ordinary 304 most “stainless steel” hardware uses. Solid brass — not plated — behaves the same way: it weathers to a patina and keeps going.
With IP65, that makes the Walsh a genuinely coastal fitting, and it was being sold as a generic outdoor one. If you are near salt air, this is the specification you want, and very few fittings in this catalogue carry it.
Protection against water jets from any direction. Compare the rest of the exterior range:
| Fitting | Rating | Position |
|---|---|---|
| WALSH EX2 | IP65 | Fully exposed, coastal |
| NORAL EX | IP54 | Sheltered |
| PROVO EX | IP43 | Covered only |
An unprotected facade, a seafront wall, a gate pier, a position taking wind-driven rain or a hose.
An up-and-down fitting sends two beams along the wall, and the hazard of the type is glare: a bare GU10 in a tube is a bright point you see straight into from the path or the street.
The honeycomb is a fine cellular louvre across each aperture. It cuts the view of the source at an angle while letting the beam through, so you see the light on the wall and not the lamp. On a fitting beside a front door, at eye height, that is the difference between a well-lit entry and something you squint past.
Two GU10, to 6 W each — 12 W total, not supplied. (Our record said 6 W, halving the fitting.)
That replaceability is a real advantage outdoors. Nearly every exterior light in this range has a sealed integrated LED: when the diode fails, the fitting is finished. The Walsh takes a standard GU10, so you choose the output, the beam and the colour, and you can replace it in ten years on a fitting built to last that long.
Ask us and we will match a pair.
210 mm tall by 60 mm wide, projecting 86 mm, at 1 kg. That is a narrow vertical — it suits a doorframe reveal, a pier or a run along a facade where a wide lantern would crowd.
⚠ It can be installed with or without the backplate — a sentence our page cut off at “can be installed with the back plate to cove—”. The 55 mm backplate is there to cover an existing wiring point; without it the fitting sits closer and cleaner against the wall. On a replacement, use the backplate; on new work, you may not need it. Ask us to confirm which suits your position.
Class II — double insulated, no earth required, which simplifies the wiring on a run of them, and hard-wired at 240 V, so a licensed electrician installs it. Three finishes: antique brass, natural brass and 316 stainless steel — natural brass will weather and darken outdoors, which is intended; antique starts there.
210 mm high by 60 mm wide, projection 86 mm, backplate 55 mm — optional, 1 kg, in solid brass or 316 marine-grade stainless steel with glass and a honeycomb anti-glare diffuser. Two GU10 globes to 6 W each — 12 W total, NOT supplied, replaceable; dimming is globe dependent. 240 V, Class II — double insulated, no earth required, IP65 — fully exposed and coastal positions. Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.

Solid brass or 316 stainless steel — our record said “glass”, losing both. 316 is marine-grade stainless, the specification used for boat fittings and coastal architecture, and substantially more corrosion-resistant than the ordinary 304 most “stainless steel” hardware uses. Solid brass, not plated, behaves the same way.
Yes — and that is the point of it. 316 stainless or solid brass with IP65 makes this a genuinely coastal fitting, and very few in this catalogue carry that specification. It was being sold as a generic outdoor light.
It cuts the view of the source at an angle while letting the beam through, so you see the light on the wall and not the lamp. On an up-and-down fitting beside a front door, at eye height, that is the difference between a well-lit entry and something you squint past.
Two GU10 to 6 W each — 12 W total, not supplied. Choose warm 3000 K, because cool white against brass reads green; a narrow beam around 36 degrees for a defined wash up and down the wall; and an outdoor-rated globe. Ask us and we will match a pair.
With dimmable GU10s and a wall dimmer, yes — dimming is globe dependent. Our record carried no dimming information at all.
No — it can be installed with or without, a sentence our page cut off mid-word. The 55 mm backplate covers an existing wiring point; without it the fitting sits closer and cleaner against the wall. Use it on a replacement; on new work you may not need it.
Antique brass starts dark; natural brass will weather and darken outdoors, which is intended; 316 stainless stays as it is. All three carry the same corrosion resistance.
