Volar 24V 3W Exterior LED Inground Light

The Volar G3 is a 52 mm inground light in black or stainless steel — 24 V, 3 W giving 110 lm at 3000 K, CRI above 95, IP65.

110 lumens — and why that is a lot for an inground light

3 W at 37 lm/W. Put beside the other inground fitting in this catalogue, that is a substantial difference:

• VOLAR — 110 lm from a full aperture
• RAKER two-way — 14 lm through two slots
• RAKER one-way — 8 lm through one slot

The Raker is a slotted marker that grazes a surface; the Volar is an open uplight that throws a genuine beam upward. So the choice between them is not brightness for its own sake, it is what you want the light to do:

• Volar — uplighting a tree, a column, a wall, a facade detail. It projects.
• Raker — marking a path edge or grazing a step riser. It skims.

CRI above 95 — equal highest in the catalogue

With the Rilto spike, the Malabo bollard and the Raker. Uplighting a tree trunk, a rendered wall or a sandstone column from below is exactly where colour rendering shows: at CRI 80 bark goes grey and stone goes flat; at 95 the material looks like itself. Never mentioned on our page.

Stainless steel or black — and near the coast it matters

Stainless steel is the one to specify on a coastal or exposed site. Most exterior fittings in this catalogue are aluminium, and near the sea salt pits aluminium and seizes its fixings. Stainless resists that — and on an inground fitting, which sits in wet soil and is very difficult to replace once paving or planting is over it, corrosion resistance is worth more than it is anywhere else.

Black is the choice where you want the fitting to disappear into mulch or dark paving by day.

52 mm across, 48 mm cutout, 1 metre of cable

52 mm wide by 80 mm deep, into a 48 mm cutout, at 0.23 kg. Slightly smaller than the Raker (62 mm into 56 mm), which matters if you are setting it into a paver, a deck board or a narrow border.

The 1,000 mm cable decides where the joint sits — and on an inground fitting that joint needs a dry, accessible housing. Plan it before the paving or the planting goes in; it is very hard to reach afterwards.
