The Domus TRAK-3 Steel Rod Kit is a 1.0 metre rigid rod suspension for 3-circuit track — 1,100 mm recorded, 40 × 40 mm, in black or white.
| ⭐ Steel rod | Wire suspension | |
|---|---|---|
| Sway | ⭐ None | ⚠ Moves in air currents |
| Alignment | ⭐ Fixed and square | ⚠ Can twist |
| Adjustability | ⚠ Fixed length | ⭐ Shortens on site |
| Appearance | ⭐ Visible, deliberate | ⭐ Nearly invisible |
| Long drops | ⚠ Impractical past ~1.5 m | ⭐ Up to 5 m |
⭐ The sheet attached to this listing is flagged contradicted and its item list names four track products rather than this kit. ⭐ It publishes a voltage and an IP rating that describe the track system. ⭐ The record's own dimensions — 1,100 mm long, 40 × 40 mm — are corroborated by the title and are what we have published. ⛔ WHAT IS NOT PUBLISHED IS THE LOAD RATING, ⭐ which on a suspension component is the figure that matters: a rod holding a loaded three-circuit track with a dozen heads is a different proposition from one holding a bare length. ⭐ Tell us the run length and head count and we will confirm before you order.
⭐ One rod kit suspends one point. ⭐ A track run needs at least two, and a long run one roughly every 1.5 to 2 metres to prevent sag between supports. ⭐ ON A 12 METRE TRACK RUN THAT IS SEVEN OR EIGHT KITS, NOT TWO — ⭐ and rod kits are more visible than wire, so the spacing is a design decision as well as a structural one. ⭐ Even spacing looks deliberate; uneven spacing looks like it was worked out on site.

1.0 metre rigid steel rod suspension kit for 3-circuit track. 1,100 mm, 40 × 40 mm. Black or white. 3-year warranty. ⭐⭐ ITS LENGTH IS RECORDED CORRECTLY, WHICH NARROWED AN EARLIER FINDING. We had found that suspension kits do not record their length — a 2 m kit reads 2 mm and both TRAK-3 suspension kits read 100 mm regardless of being 1.5 m and 3.0 m. This rod kit reads 1,100 mm for a 1.0 m kit, so the fault belongs to SUSPENSION kits specifically rather than to TRAK-3 accessories. ⭐ THE DECISIVE ADVANTAGE OF ROD IS THAT THE TRACK STAYS SQUARE: a wire-hung run rotates slightly and every aimed head rotates with it, which is the difference between aiming once and re-aiming annually.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
Yes — 1,100mm for a 1.0m kit, allowing for the canopy and fixing at each end. That matters because we had found earlier that the suspension kits do not record their length: a 2m kit reads 2mm, a 3m kit reads 100mm, and both TRAK-3 suspension kits read the same 100mm despite being 1.5m and 3.0m. This rod kit being correct narrows that fault to suspension kits specifically rather than TRAK-3 accessories generally.
Because the track stays where you put it. A wire-hung track run moves in air currents from doors, air conditioning and passing traffic, and on a long run adjacent sections drifting out of line is visually obvious. More importantly it keeps the track square — a 3-circuit track carries heads that are aimed, and if the track rotates slightly every head rotates with it. That is the difference between aiming once and re-aiming annually.
Rod is a fixed length. Wire shortens on site; rod does not. So the ceiling height has to be known before ordering, which on a build in progress is the real constraint. Rod is also visible where wire is nearly invisible — deliberate rather than discreet.
Roughly 3.4 to 3.8m, bringing the track to about 2.4 to 2.8m above the floor. That is the standard commercial working height — low enough to light a display properly, high enough to walk under. It is also the most common retrofit case: a shop in an older building where mounting track directly to the ceiling would put the heads too far from the stock.
Past about 1.5m it becomes awkward to handle and starts needing lateral support of its own. Longer drops are wire territory — the range goes to 5 metres in wire kits.
One per suspension point: at least two per run, and on a long run one roughly every 1.5 to 2 metres to prevent sag. On a 12 metre track run that is seven or eight kits, not two. Rod kits are also more visible than wire, so the spacing is a design decision as well as a structural one — even spacing looks deliberate, uneven spacing looks worked out on site.
The load rating, which on a suspension component is the figure that matters — a rod holding a loaded three-circuit track with a dozen heads is a different proposition from one holding a bare length. The attached datasheet is also flagged contradicted and describes the track system rather than this kit. Tell us the run length and head count and we will confirm before you order.
