The Domus SM KIT-303 is a surface-mount frame for 312 × 312 mm backlit LED panels — 355 × 300 mm, 66 mm deep, in white.
⭐ A backlit panel is made to drop into a suspended grid, where the grid carries it. ⭐ On plasterboard or concrete there is no grid, so the panel has nothing to sit in. ⭐ The frame fixes to the surface and the panel sits inside it. ⭐⭐ THE ADVANTAGE OVER A PLASTER TRIM KIT IS THAT NO CEILING IS CUT — ⭐ which on a concrete soffit is not a convenience but the only practical option. ⚠ The cost is that the fitting is 66 mm proud rather than flush.
⭐ Unlike the 1,200 mm linear frame, a 355 × 300 mm frame is a one-person job and will not bow between fixings. ⭐ Fix into framing where you can; plasterboard anchors are adequate for something this small and light, which is not true of the longer frames in the family. ⭐ Check the position against the joists anyway if the ceiling is timber-framed — ⭐ a fixing that lands on a joist is always better than one that does not.
⭐ 10 W, 860 lm at 3000 K, 1,000 at 4000 K and 1,100 at 5700 K, CRI ≥80, switchable, not dimmable, 40,000 hours. ⭐ Note the lifespan is 40,000 hours rather than the 50,000 seen elsewhere in the Domus range — ⭐ at commercial duty of around 12 hours a day that is roughly nine years rather than eleven. ⭐ Operating range is −20 to +45 °C, which matters in an unconditioned store room or a roof space.

Surface-mount frame for 312 × 312 mm backlit LED panels. 355 × 300 mm, 66 mm deep, white. Panel not included. ⛔ ITS SHEET IS FLAGGED BOTH UNVERIFIABLE AND AS THE WRONG SHEET, and its contents describe a panel — 10 W, 860 to 1,100 lumens — on a frame that emits no light. It is the weakest documentation of the four frames in this catalogue, all of which carry panel sheets. We took from it only what the product's own record corroborates. ⭐ THE PRACTICAL EFFECT IS SMALL, because a frame has few specifications to get wrong: what matters is the size it suits and the 66 mm depth it adds, and both come from the record. ⭐ AT THIS SIZE IT IS A FILL FITTING — store rooms, WCs, landings, and leftover grid modules.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
The frame details are reliable; the sheet is not. Its datasheet is flagged both unverifiable and as the wrong sheet, and its contents describe a panel — 10W, 860 to 1,100 lumens, CRI ≥80 — on a product that emits no light. We took from it only what the product's own record corroborates: the dimensions and the finish.
Less than it would elsewhere, because a frame has few specifications to get wrong. What matters is the size it suits and the depth it adds, and both come from the record. On a light fitting the same problem would be serious.
It is a fill fitting rather than a main one. At 10W it gives 860 to 1,100 lumens — about a third of what a 600mm panel does — which suits a store room, a small WC, a stairwell landing, a lift lobby, or the gap at the end of a corridor where a full-size panel will not fit.
To fill a leftover half-module. A 600mm grid does not always divide evenly into a room, and a small panel drops into the leftover tile where a large one cannot. That is its most common commercial use.
It lets the panel go on a ceiling that has no grid. A backlit panel is made to drop into a suspended grid where the grid carries it; on plasterboard or concrete there is nothing to sit in. The frame fixes to the surface and the panel sits inside it. The advantage over a plaster trim kit is that no ceiling is cut — which on a concrete soffit is not a convenience but the only practical option. The cost is that the fitting sits 66mm proud rather than flush.
No — unlike the 1,200mm linear frame in this family, a 355 x 300mm frame is a one-person job and will not bow between fixings. Plasterboard anchors are adequate for something this small and light, which is not true of the longer frames. Check the position against the joists anyway if the ceiling is timber-framed; a fixing that lands on a joist is always better than one that does not.
Its published lifespan is 40,000 hours rather than the 50,000 seen elsewhere in the Domus range — at commercial duty of around 12 hours a day that is roughly nine years rather than eleven. Its operating range is −20 to +45°C, which matters in an unconditioned store room or a roof space.
