Domus BLOC20 Surface Mounted LED Profile

The Domus BLOC-20 is a surface-mounted aluminium LED profile for Domus LED strip — extruded 6063 aluminium with a square opal PMMA diffuser, 19.8 mm wide × 19.6 mm high, supplied in 2,500 mm continuous lengths. Anodised aluminium, black or white.

⛔ Our record says this profile is 2.5 mm long. It is 2,500 mm.

• ⛔ A metre-and-a-half of extrusion recorded as the thickness of a coin. The datasheet says 2500 mm continuous, and that is the figure to work to.
• ⭐ We checked whether it was one slip, and it is not. The same metres-written-as-millimetres error appears on five aluminium profiles in this catalogue, on a 2 m suspension kit recorded as “2mm”, and on two exterior posts recording “1.0mm | 1.5mm | 2.0mm” for what are metre-length posts. Eight products, one error.
• ✅ It affects nothing you receive — you get 2,500 mm of profile. But it makes the field useless for working out how many lengths a run needs.

⭐ Working out how much you need

• 2,500 mm per length. A 6 m run is three lengths with 1.5 m over — ⚠ plan the joints where they will not be seen.
• ⭐ The datasheet notes custom lengths are available. On a continuous architectural line, a custom cut can remove a joint entirely, and that is worth asking about before you order three standard lengths and cut two of them.
• ⚠ Cut the diffuser and the extrusion together and de-burr — a rough cut shows as a bright line through opal.
• Accessories are sold individually: anodised end caps, wire suspensions and mounting clips. ⚠ Count them yourself. Two end caps per finished run, clips at regular centres, and a run that is not supported often enough will sag visibly under a diffuser.

⭐ What the profile is actually for

• ✅ It keeps the strip straight. Bare LED strip adhered to a surface wanders; in an extrusion it reads as a line, which is the entire point of using profile.
• ✅ The opal diffuser hides the individual LEDs — so you see a lit line rather than a row of dots. ⚠ Whether it succeeds depends on the strip: a low-density strip behind a shallow 19.6 mm diffuser can still show dotting. Tell us which strip you are using and we will say whether the combination will read smoothly.
• ✅ It protects the strip from dust and vapour, which is what shortens the life of bare strip in a kitchen or a workshop.
• ⭐ Square section, 19.8 × 19.6 mm — near enough to a true square, so it reads the same mounted on a ceiling, a wall or a joinery edge.

⛔ Two more record entries that are not true of an extrusion

• ⛔ “Colour changing technology: true” on a piece of aluminium. The colour is decided entirely by the strip you put in it. ⭐ If you want colour change, that is a strip choice — ask us for an RGB or tuneable-white strip and this profile will carry it.
• ⚠ A voltage of 220–240 V on a part with no electrical components. The profile is passive; the voltage belongs to whatever strip and driver you run.

• Under kitchen wall cabinets and along joinery edges — the square section sits neatly under a shadow line.
• Surface-mounted ceiling and wall lines where a recessed channel is not an option.
• Suspended, using the wire suspensions, for a floating line.
• Shelving, display and retail, where dust protection matters as much as the light.
