Product Description
xThe Volen PE4B is a four-light bar pendant in matt black with gold accents and black smoke glass — integrated LED, 1,050 lm at 3000 K, dimmable.
The centre tube comes two ways — and you need to tell us which you want. The Volen's central tube is offered either:
- perforated with round holes, which lets light escape along its length for a softer, more diffused effect; or
- fully closed with an opal cover, which keeps the light in and directs it down, for a more focused output.
That is a real difference — ambient wash versus task light over a table — and our listing does not record which version it is. Tell us which you need when you order and we will confirm it before dispatch.
What the two tubes actually change
Perforated: light escapes sideways and upward as well as down, so the bar itself glows and the ceiling gets some light. The room reads softer and larger, and the fitting is visible as a lit object.
Closed opal: nearly all the output goes downward. Over a table or an island that means more light on the surface and a darker ceiling — more contrast, more focus, and a better working light.
If the Volen is your only light in the room, choose perforated. If it hangs over a table with other lighting elsewhere, choose closed opal.
8 watts is per light, not the total. Our record shows 8 W against 1,050 lm, which would be 131 lumens per watt — higher than any complete fitting achieves, and impossible through tinted smoke glass, which absorbs a substantial share of the light. At 8 W across four lights — 32 W total it is 33 lm/W, which is exactly right for smoke glass. Published as 32 W total, and we have asked Telbix to confirm.
Smoke glass — and what it costs
Black smoke glass is tinted, so it absorbs light on the way out. That is why the efficiency is modest, and it is the trade you are making: the fitting reads as dark and deliberate when it is off, and the light that does emerge is softened and slightly warmed by the tint. Against gold accents on matt black, that is a coherent and quite formal look.

1,050 lumens, and it dims
Enough to be the main light over a dining table or an island, and dimmable — which on a fitting with visible smoke glass matters, because dimmed, the tint and the gold are most of what you see. It is Class I — earth required and IP20 — indoor and dry locations only.
One of three configurations
Volen also comes as a single pendant and a five-light. Same matt black with gold, same smoke glass, same tube choice — so a single over a bedside and the bar over a table read as one scheme.

Questions
What is the difference between the two centre tubes?
Perforated lets light escape sideways and upward as well as down, so the bar glows and the room reads softer and larger. Closed opal sends nearly all the output downward — more light on the table, a darker ceiling, more focus. For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.
Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.
Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.
Damaged or Missing Items
Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.
If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.
Returns
Change of Mind Returns
- Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
- The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Our Rights
We reserve the right to refuse a return in cases where we cannot be reasonably satisfied that you purchased the product from us or where we are not responsible for the damage in accordance with our Faults & damages policy.
Cancellations
Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
