Korova Small Pendant Light

The Korova PES is a 210 mm blown glass pendant in matt brass with an opal glass shade — one E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied, on a 2,000 mm suspension.

Blown glass, and the record said “metal”

Our listing recorded “Metal” and nothing else. The shade is blown glass, and that is the reason to buy the pendant. Blown glass is formed by breath rather than pressed into a mould, so the wall thickness varies very slightly across the shade — which means the light through it is never perfectly even. That subtle variation is what separates it from a moulded shade, and it is only visible when the light is on.

Opal, so the globe never shows

The glass is opal: the source is completely hidden, with no bright point and no glare from any angle. Two practical consequences. You can hang it low — over a bench, beside a bed, at eye level across a table — without anyone squinting. And the globe you fit affects only brightness and warmth, not the look, so any E27 will do.

210 by 230 mm — a small pendant, and it hangs in groups

210 mm wide by 230 mm high, at 1.5 kg, on a 120 mm canopy with 2,000 mm of adjustable suspension. At this size a single Korova is a detail rather than a statement — it works in runs of two or three over a bench, or singly beside a bed or in a small space. Over a dining table alone it will look undersized.

Matt brass, not polished

Matt matters against opal glass. A polished brass collar beside a lit opal shade reflects it back and creates a bright rim; matt absorbs, so the glass stays the brightest thing in the fitting — which on a pendant bought for its glass is the whole point.

• Over benches and islands, in runs of two or three.
• Bedsides and small spaces, singly.
• Low over a surface — opal never glares.
