Proline 40W tri-colour LED pendant

The Proline is a 40W LED pendant, sold here in white, black and silver. At that wattage it is not a decorative pendant hung for effect — it is a working light, rated at up to 4000lm, which puts it in the territory of lighting a kitchen island, a dining table, a meeting table or a bench outright rather than supplementing downlights already in the ceiling.

The body is aluminium. It is rated IP20, which means it is an indoor fitting: no protection against water, so it belongs in a living space, not in a bathroom shower zone or anywhere outside.

Light output and colour temperature

The Proline is tri-colour, so the colour temperature is set on the fitting at installation rather than being fixed when it is manufactured. Each setting has its own rated output: 3800lm at 3000K, 3900lm at 4000K and 4000lm at 5500K. Colour rendering is rated above 80 CRI, and the beam is 120°, so the light spreads across a table rather than dropping in a narrow column onto its centre.

Choosing between the three settings is worth doing deliberately on a fitting this bright. Over a dining table 3000K keeps the room warm; over a kitchen bench or a work surface 4000K makes surfaces and food read more accurately; 5500K is the setting for a space being used as a workroom. The selection is made at installation, so it is best decided before the pendant goes up.

Dimming

The Proline is Triac dimmable, which means it works with a conventional Triac wall dimmer rather than needing a remote or a proprietary controller. On a 40W pendant over a table that matters: the same fitting can run at full output while a room is being used to work in and be brought down for a meal without changing anything about the installation.

As with any dimmable LED, the dimmer itself should be one rated for LED loads. An electrician specifying the circuit will pair it correctly.

Power and installation

The fitting runs on 240V AC mains and requires no driver. It is a Class 1 fitting, so an earth connection is required, and installation is work for a licensed electrician.

There is no globe to source. The LED is integral to the fitting, so nothing is bought alongside it and nothing is replaced later. Three part numbers are sold on this page and they differ only in finish: HV6001T-WHT in white, HV6001T-BLK in black and HV6001T-SLV in silver.
