Valda Table Lamp

The Valda is a 530 mm table lamp with a vegan-leather-wrapped base under a double-lined fabric shade — in taupe, black, blue, brown or green.

Vegan leather, which our own record does not mention

The base is wrapped in vegan leather, not painted metal. That gives it a soft, matte, slightly warm surface that takes light differently from any finish in this range — it absorbs rather than reflects, so the base reads as a quiet dark mass under a glowing shade. Our internal record lists the material as “iron”, which misses the point of the lamp entirely.

The shade is lined on both sides

A double fabric shade — lined inside as well as out. That is not decoration: the inner lining diffuses the globe a second time before the light reaches the outer fabric, so you get a genuinely even glow with no hot spot showing through, and no visible globe shape from any angle. Single-layer shades on cheaper lamps always betray the globe somewhere.

Five colours, and three of them are properly unusual

Blue, green and brown alongside the safe taupe and black. Very little else in this catalogue offers a coloured lamp base at all — if you are trying to pick up an accent in a room rather than default to neutral, this is where to look.

Enough weight to stay put

1.82 kg at 530 mm tall, with a ø280 mm shade. Not heavy, but properly stable for a bedside or a console — and the leather wrap means it does not skid on a polished surface the way a bare metal base does.

Plug in and use it

Class II, double insulated, no earth required, on an 1,800 mm cable. No electrician, no installation.

One E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied

Behind a double-lined shade a plain warm globe is all you need — a decorative filament would never be seen. Dimming is globe dependent: fit a dimmable globe and use a plug-in or inline dimmer. Our record says it does not dim, and our record is wrong.
