KATRIN TABLE LAMP

The Katrin TL is a 500 mm table lamp in matte iron with a raffia shade — taking one E27 globe.

Raffia, which our record does not mention

The shade is raffia — dried palm-leaf fibre, hand-wound — not rattan, paper or fabric. It is finer and flatter than rattan, so where a rattan shade throws bold shadow patterns across a wall, raffia gives a soft, close texture that glows evenly. On a table lamp beside a bed, that is the better behaviour: a patterned shadow at pillow height is restless. Our record lists the material as “iron”.

It reaches 310 mm

500 mm tall, 200 mm wide, 310 mm long. Like the floor lamp, the Katrin has an arm that carries the shade out beyond the base — so it sits at the back of a console or a bedside table and puts the light where you are, rather than crowding the surface.

Iron and raffia — hard against soft

Matte black iron under natural fibre. The contrast is what keeps it contemporary rather than coastal, where a fully natural lamp would read as holiday house.

Plug in and use it

Class II, double insulated, no earth required, lead and plug fitted. No electrician, no installation.

One E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied

A plain warm globe — the fibre is close enough that a decorative filament will not read through it. Dimming is globe dependent: fit a dimmable globe and use a plug-in or inline dimmer.

Caring for raffia

Dust with a dry cloth; keep liquid cleaners away. Raffia marks and stiffens if it gets wet, and there is no fixing it afterwards.

Katrin is made as a pendant, a floor lamp and this table lamp, all in the same iron and raffia. A floor lamp beside the chair with this on the side table reads as one considered pairing.
