FELTON TABLE LAMP BLACK MARBLE

The Felton TL is a 350 mm table lamp on a black marble base with an interchangeable glass shade — one G9 globe to 6 W, not supplied — in six glass finishes.

The base is marble, and our record never said so

The listing recorded “Glass, Iron”. The product is called Black Marble and the base is exactly that — real stone, which is why it has weight, cold to the touch, with the veining different on every piece. That is the reason to choose it over a painted metal base, and it was absent from our data entirely.

Six glass shades, and they are genuinely interchangeable

This is what makes Felton unusual. The shade swaps, so the lamp you buy is not the lamp you are stuck with:

• Smoke — grey-tinted, softens the globe and darkens the whole lamp.
• Smoke Tear — the same tint in a teardrop form.
• Opal Matt — fully diffusing; the only one that hides the globe completely, and the softest light of the six.
• Frost Tear — frosted teardrop; diffuse, but brighter than opal.
• Clear Prism — faceted and clear; sparkles and throws patterns, and shows the globe, so choose a decorative one.
• Amber Tear — warm-tinted teardrop; the warmest light of the six.

350 mm — small, and heavier than it looks

350 mm tall, 160 mm long, 150 mm wide. A marble base at that size is substantial in the hand, which is what stops a small lamp from being knocked off a bedside table.

Dimming depends on the globe

Fit a dimmable G9 and use a plug-in or inline dimmer and it dims; a plain globe will not. Worth noting that our two Felton table lamp listings disagree with each other on this — the white-marble one records “No”. They are the same lamp; globe dependent is the correct answer for both.

Part of a whole range

Felton runs as pendants, wall lights and table lamps, all sharing the same interchangeable shades and a choice of black or antique gold bases. That means a room can carry a pendant and a table lamp with identical glass — which is a much stronger look than two lamps that merely resemble each other.
