Dillion Ceramic Table Lamp

The Dillion TL is a 490 mm table lamp with a textured silver ceramic base and a fabric shade in white — one E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied.

Two things at once, and they work against each other in a good way. The base is textured — relief in the ceramic itself — and glazed gloss silver. Gloss on a flat surface is a mirror; gloss on a textured one breaks the reflection into highlights, so the base catches light without throwing a hard shine. That is why it reads as metallic-and-handmade rather than as plated plastic.

A wide shade on a solid base

300 mm shade by 200 mm high over a 205 mm base, at 490 mm overall and 2.2 kg. That is a properly weighted lamp — ceramic does that, and it is the practical reason to choose ceramic over metal on a bedside table. The white fabric shade diffuses evenly, so the light is soft rather than directional.

Where the silver sits

Silver is cooler than brass and warmer than chrome, and against a white shade it stays neutral — which is what makes the Dillion work in both modern and traditional rooms. A brass lamp commits a room to warmth; this one does not.

Dimming depends on the globe

Fit a dimmable E27 and use a plug-in or inline dimmer and it dims; a plain globe will not. Our record says “No”, which is misleading — the correct answer is globe dependent. On a bedside lamp with a diffusing white shade, dimming is worth doing.

One E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied; dimming is globe dependent. 240 V, Class II — double insulated, no earth required, IP20 — indoor and dry locations only. Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.
