Deana Table Lamp

The Deana TL is a 380 mm table lamp on a travertine, iron and glass base with a soft fabric shade — one E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied — in beige with opal matt glass.

Three materials in the base, and the record listed two

Our record says “Iron, Glass”. The datasheet says travertine, iron and glass — and the travertine is the part that matters. Travertine is natural banded limestone, warm and matte, characteristically pitted with small natural voids, and different in every piece. Stacked with opal matt glass and iron, it gives the base three distinct textures in one column: stone, then glass, then metal. That layering is the design, and half of it was missing from the data.

An opal glass section that is part of the base, not the shade

Worth being clear about, because it is unusual. The opal matt glass sits in the base, beneath the fabric shade — so the lamp has a solid stone foot, a translucent middle and a fabric top. It reads as a composed object rather than a lamp on a stand.

380 mm and 3.27 kg

Compact and heavy — the stone does that. At 380 mm tall with a 220 mm shade it suits a bedside table, a sideboard or a console, and at 3.27 kg it stays where you put it. Compare the Arvane, the other travertine lamp here: 420 mm and 5.2 kg, so the Deana is the smaller and more placeable of the two.

The globe is yours — and it decides the light

One E27 to 25 W, not supplied. Through a fabric shade the light will be soft and diffuse; the opal glass in the base does not light up unless the globe sits low enough, so the shade is doing the work. Beside a bed a warm 2700 K globe makes the fabric glow rather than simply light up. Dimming is globe dependent — a dimmable E27 with a plug-in or inline dimmer will dim it. Our record says “No”, which is misleading.
