Artizo Table Lamp

The Artizo TL is a 475 mm table lamp with a rectangular capiz shell base and a 300 mm fabric shade, in white and gold — one E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied, on 1.8 metres of flex.

Capiz shell — and the sentence that was cut off

Our page stopped mid-word at “Complemented by a brushed go—”, losing the description of the gold detailing. And our product record listed only iron and fabric, losing the shell entirely — though the page's own specification table did name it.

Capiz is a natural material, not a finish. It is the shell of the windowpane oyster, and it has one property nothing manufactured reproduces: it is naturally translucent — thin enough to pass light, dense enough to scatter it.

• Unlit, it reads as a softly pearlescent surface with a faint iridescence that shifts as you move past.
• Lit, the individual pieces glow from within, each slightly differently, because each is a different thickness. That unevenness is the whole effect — a moulded plastic panel lights perfectly evenly, and looks it.

Every lamp is therefore different. Natural shell varies in tone, translucency and pattern, so yours will not be identical to the photograph.

Two lights from one lamp

The arrangement gives you two different things at once: the opaque fabric shade throws a defined pool down onto the surface and a wash on the ceiling, while the capiz base glows softly on its own at table level.

That lower glow is what makes the Artizo read as ambient even while it is doing useful work — and it is why dimming matters more here than on an ordinary lamp.

The globe is hidden, so the choice is simple

One E27 to 25 W, not supplied. Nothing shows through the fabric shade, so brightness and warmth are the only decisions. Use warm 2700 K — capiz shell is a warm, creamy natural material and cool white makes it look grey and dead, and the brushed gold would read green.

One E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied; dimming is globe dependent and needs an inline or plug-in dimmer. 240 V, plug-in — no electrician required, Class II — double insulated, IP20 — indoor and dry locations only. Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.
