A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
This is a general-purpose LED strip, the density most jobs actually want. It is bright enough to work under a cabinet or along a stair, and restrained enough to sit in a cove without turning it into a light box.
It is also the density that makes a diffuser worthwhile rather than optional. Bright enough that individual LEDs read as dots when uncovered, not so bright that a diffuser wastes what it produces.
This strip draws 14.4W per metre, producing 660lm per metre.
⚠ Both figures are per metre, not per reel. A long run multiplies them, and that is the number that decides the driver.
It is a 5500K product - one fixed colour temperature.
This is a cool white, close to daylight. It reads as bright and precise, which is what suits a garage, a laundry, a display case, a workshop or any job where seeing detail matters more than atmosphere.
⚠ Cool light in a living space is the most common colour-temperature regret. It makes a room feel like a workplace, and the effect is far stronger at night than the specification suggests.
Colour rendering is >80 CRI, which describes how faithfully colours appear under the light. It matters most where the lighting falls on food, skin, timber or fabric.
The beam spread is 120°.
At IP67 this is rated for wet or exposed positions - outdoors, in bathrooms, or anywhere it will be splashed or rained on.
The rating protects the strip itself. The cut ends and the joints are the vulnerable part of any run, so they have to be sealed properly if the protection is to mean anything in practice.
This strip runs at 24V DC, so it needs an LED driver between it and the mains. It cannot be connected to mains directly.
Size the driver from the run, not the reel: multiply the wattage per metre by the metres you are actually installing, then choose a driver comfortably above that total. A supply working at its limit runs hot, and heat shortens both the driver and the strip.
⚠ The driver's output voltage has to match the strip. Connecting 24V strip to the wrong supply either leaves it dark or destroys it, and that is not a warranty claim.
The strip can be cut, but only at the marked cutting points - every 50mm. Cutting anywhere else severs the circuit and kills the section beyond the cut.
Run it in an aluminium profile. The aluminium draws heat away, which is the single biggest factor in how long a strip holds its brightness, and the diffuser turns the line of separate LEDs into a continuous one.
Test the run before committing it. Adhesive backing does not survive being lifted and re-laid well, and a fault found after the diffuser and end caps are on means taking the whole run apart.
This strip is dimmable. Dimming happens at the driver rather than at the strip, so the driver and the dimmer have to match.
No. The strip is supplied on its own and needs a 24V DC driver sized to your run.
Per metre. 14.4W is what one metre draws, so multiply by the length of your run before sizing a driver.
Yes, at the marked cutting points - every 50mm. Cutting between them kills the section past the cut.
Yes - it is rated IP67. Seal the cut ends and joints properly, as those are the vulnerable points on any run.
Yes, at the driver. The driver and the dimmer have to use the same dimming method.
For the mains connection to the driver, yes. That is licensed electrical work in Australia.
