This is the combination most often specified for a public or shared stair: a surface-mounted Nava with an eyelid to control glare, in titanium-coloured aluminium — the mid-grey metallic finish that neither disappears nor draws attention against concrete, bluestone and grey render. The hood shields the LED from anyone approaching from below and directs the light down onto the treads.
A step light on a stair is looked at, not just looked by. Someone climbing towards it has the aperture near their eyeline, and a bare 5 W LED in that position is uncomfortable rather than helpful. The eyelid hoods the top of the aperture, removes the upward component, and leaves a defined wash on the wall and the tread below. On a run that is only ever viewed from above — a path seen from a terrace, say — the plain HV2960T-TTM does the same job without the hood.
Being surface mounted, it fixes to a base plate on the face of the wall — no cut-out, no canister, no chase — so it retrofits to solid or finished construction easily. The detail to resolve on paper is the cable. The data sheet states the fitting has an external cable and can only be connected externally; there is no terminal chamber inside. The 150 mm tail must reach a junction you provide, and that junction must be watertight — soldered and heat-shrunk, or a gel-filled IP67 connector (HV9911, HV9912, HV9913). Havit voids the warranty on an unsealed joint.
IP65, IK06, polycarbonate diffuser, 120° beam before the eyelid shapes it, CRI above 80. A built-in 5 W LED with no globe and no socket, giving 360 lm at 3000 K, 380 lm at 4000 K and 400 lm at 5500 K — set at installation from a switch on the PCB behind the diffuser, shipped at 3000 K. Not dimmable on either supply.
240 V is Protection Class 1 and requires an earth. 12 V DC is Class 3, no earth required, and calls for a 12 V DC constant-voltage driver within 25 m, supply held inside ±5% of rated voltage. Wiring is parallel. Havit asks that aluminium fittings stay 5 km from salt water, and excludes corrosion caused by the mounting surface itself — sandstone and bush rock are named, because both keep moisture and salts pressed against the back of the fitting.
Available from Lights For You in both supply voltages with a three-year replacement warranty, alongside the plain-faced HV2960T-TTM.
Anyone climbing towards the fitting has the aperture near their eyeline. The eyelid hoods the top of it, removes the upward glare and leaves the light on the tread and the wall below.
Where the run is only ever seen from above or side-on — a path viewed from a terrace, for example. The HV2960T-TTM is the same body and output without the hood.
No — it is surface mounted onto a base plate, so it retrofits to solid or already-finished walls.
Outside the fitting. It has an external cable and no internal terminal chamber, so the 150 mm tail runs to a watertight junction you provide.
360 lm at 3000 K, 380 lm at 4000 K and 400 lm at 5500 K from a built-in 5 W LED.
No, on either supply voltage.
Yes. Havit does not cover corrosion caused by the surface it is fixed to and names sandstone and bush rock. Aluminium fittings should also stay 5 km from salt water.
