HV2960T-BLK-12V | HV2960T-BLK-240V - Nava Black LED Step Lights

The Nava is a round surface-mounted step light — it fixes onto the face of a wall rather than into it, which makes it the answer when recessing is not an option. Solid masonry with no cavity, a finished render you do not want to cut, a retaining wall, a rendered blade or a heritage facade: all of them rule out a recessed brick light and none of them trouble a Nava. In poly powder coated black it reads as a small dark disc by day.

Why surface mounting changes the job

There is no cut-out to get right and nothing to chase into the structure. The fitting lands on a base plate fixed to the wall, so it can go onto existing work and can be moved later without leaving a hole. The trade is that it projects, so it wants to sit where a shoulder or a wheelbarrow will not catch it — which is exactly what the IK06 impact rating and the aluminium body are for.

⚠ The cable connects OUTSIDE the fitting

This one catches people, so it is worth stating before the electrician arrives. The data sheet says plainly: this fitting has an external cable, and connection can only be made externally. There is no internal terminal chamber. The 150 mm tail has to reach a junction you provide — a weatherproof enclosure, or a soldered and heat-shrunk joint sealed against water. Havit's instructions are explicit that an unsealed joint voids the warranty, and they list gel-filled IP67 connectors (HV9911, HV9912, HV9913) for exactly this.

Output, and which setting is which

A built-in 5 W LED — no globe, no socket — behind a polycarbonate diffuser, with a 120° beam and CRI above 80. Tri-colour switching gives 360 lm at 3000 K, 380 lm at 4000 K and 400 lm at 5500 K, selected at installation from a switch on the PCB behind the diffuser; it ships preset to 3000 K. That is a proper step-and-path level of light from a fitting this size. It does not dim on either supply voltage.

Two supply codes, two different fittings

240 V is Protection Class 1 and requires an earth. 12 V DC is Class 3 and needs none, but it must run from a 12 V DC constant-voltage LED driver — a constant-current driver is a different device and will not run it. On the low-voltage code the fitting cannot sit more than 25 m from that driver, with supply held within ±5% of rated voltage, or the warranty is void. Wiring is parallel.

Where not to put it

Two exclusions from Havit's own instructions, both worth knowing before you fix it down. Aluminium fittings are not to be installed within 5 km of salt water. And Havit does not cover corrosion caused by the mounting surface itself — sandstone and bush rock are named specifically, because both hold moisture and salts against the back of a fitting. On either of those surfaces, isolate the base plate or choose a different position.

Lights For You stocks the black Nava in both supply voltages, IP65 rated and warranted three years. If you want the source shielded from above, the HV2961T is the same fitting with an eyelid.
