Matt White Single Adjustable Wall Light

The white Tivah is the one most people end up specifying, and the reason is unglamorous: a textured white powder-coated body on a matching backing plate disappears into a rendered or painted wall, so what you notice at night is the light rather than the fitting. It is a single-head adjustable, tilting through 90° and swivelling through 270° on its bracket, with a high-output reflector behind the lamp to push the beam where you aim it.

Three part numbers, and the difference is electrical

• HV1235T — 240 V GU10 supplied with Havit’s 9-in-1 globe, switchable between 3 W, 5 W and 7 W as well as three colour temperatures. Output runs 240–560 lm at 3000K, 255–595 lm at 4000K and 270–630 lm at 5500K across that wattage range, in a 60° beam.
• HV1237GU10T — 240 V GU10 fixed at 5 W: 270 lm at 3000K, 285 lm at 4000K, 300 lm at 5500K, in a wider 120° beam.
• HV1237MR16T — the same 5 W output and 120° beam, but 12 V DC on an MR16 base, which needs its own driver.

The beam angle is the part that gets missed. The switchable model throws a tighter 60° cone that reads as a defined scallop on the wall; the fixed 5 W models spread twice as wide and read as a wash. Both angles are properties of the globe supplied, so refitting a different GU10 changes the beam.

Where it earns its place

• Rendered facades and light-coloured pillars, where a dark fitting would sit as a smudge in daylight.
• Entry walls and porches that want one aimed pool of light rather than a general wash.
• Fully exposed positions — at IP65 no eave is required over it.

Installing and running it

Both GU10 versions wire straight to 240 V mains and are earthed Class 1 fittings. The MR16 version is low voltage: it needs a 12 V DC LED driver, must sit no further than 25 m from it, and the supply has to stay within 5% of nominal or Havit voids the warranty. Globes are replaceable and the ceiling differs by base — 35 W on a 240 V GU10, 20 W on a 12 V MR16. Only HV1235T is Triac dimmable, on the strength of its switchable globe; the fixed 5 W versions are not dimmable as supplied. The body is powder-coated aluminium, so Havit asks that it not be installed within 2 km of salt water — if the site is coastal, the copper, brass or 316 stainless Tivah is the version to order instead. All three carry a 3-year replacement warranty.
