The Orech is an indoor wall light made from walnut timber on an aluminium chassis, 400mm long and 150mm deep. Timber is unusual in a lighting fitting and it is the entire reason to choose this one: the grain is different on every unit, the colour deepens with age, and the fitting reads as furniture rather than as hardware on the wall.
That also sets where it belongs. This is a fitting for bedrooms, hallways, living rooms and stair walls — dry interior spaces where it will be seen closely. It is rated IP20, which is no water protection at all, so bathrooms and anywhere outdoors are out.
The Orech draws 12W and is tri-colour, with the colour temperature selected at installation rather than fixed at manufacture: 3000K, 4000K or 5500K, rated at 800lm, 850lm and 825lm respectively. Colour rendering is above 80 CRI and the beam is 120°.
On a timber fitting the colour choice matters more than usual. Walnut is a warm, red-brown timber, and cool white light works against it — 5500K on walnut tends to make the timber look grey and the fitting look cheaper than it is. The 3000K setting is the one that suits the material, and it is worth setting before the fitting goes on the wall.
The Orech is Triac dimmable, so it works with a conventional LED-rated wall dimmer without any additional module on the circuit. At 850lm it is bright enough to be the main light in a small room, which makes the dimming genuinely useful rather than a specification detail — the same fitting can do reading light and low evening light in a bedroom.
The fitting runs on 240V AC mains and requires no driver. It is a Class 1 fitting and needs an earth connection, so installation is work for a licensed electrician. Rated lamp expectancy is >30,000 hrs, and the LED is built in — no globe to buy with it and none to replace later.
At 400mm long the fitting has a definite horizontal presence, so its position relative to a bedhead, a doorway or a picture rail is worth setting out on the wall before the cable point is fixed. Timber also responds to its environment: keep it away from direct sustained sunlight, which will lighten walnut unevenly over time.
Yes — walnut timber on an aluminium chassis, so the grain differs between individual fittings.
No. It is rated IP20 with no water protection, and timber is the wrong material for a wet area.
Yes. It is Triac dimmable and works with a conventional LED-rated wall dimmer.
3000K. Cooler settings tend to grey the timber and work against the material.
No. The 12W LED is built into the fitting.
